I’m extremely disappointed with TurboTax this year. I used TurboTax Online to file my 2024 taxes. I entered my Chase account info for both my state tax payment and federal refund. I even received confirmation that the payment would be debited directly from that account. Instead, TurboTax routed both my refund and state payment to an old E*TRADE account — an account I had never authorized for tax payments or refunds. The only interaction I had with that account was importing investment documents for tax purposes. Somehow, TurboTax’s system overrode my refund and payment info without my consent.   As a result: • My state payment failed, and I was hit with a $30 penalty by the Maryland Comptroller • TurboTax still charged me $64 for filing my state return, even though the payment was never submitted • I was charged a $40 Refund Processing Fee, even though my agreement clearly stated I would be charged $0.00   This situation has cost me money, delayed my refund, and caused significant stress. I submitted a refund request with full documentation and screenshots, only to be met with a generic denial message that ignored all of the specifics I outlined.   I spoke with a helpful TurboTax representative before submitting the request, who confirmed I should ask for a refund and that my case had merit. Despite this, I was dismissed without any actual review.   I’m asking TurboTax to take this seriously and escalate my case for full review. If this is not resolved, I’ll be filing complaints with the IRS, CFPB, and Better Business Bureau. I’m also prepared to share my experience more widely so others can protect themselves from similar issues.   This was not a user error. This was a system failure that caused real financial harm.

I have problem on line 47600 (T1 General)   My product is TurboTax Home & Business 2024 desktop version. The software is up to date.   I tried to direct input my paid tax amount by instalments, I cannot input my amount. It didn't display any amount at all, even I press my number keys.   Please resolve this problem ASAP.   Thanks.

You can both use the 1098-T to make your entries. If you claim the tuition credit, you do need to report that you got one (the TurboTax interview will handle this) Your student should use the 1098-T because it makes entering scholarship income go smoother and puts the income in the right place on the tax forms, line 8r of Schedule 1 (this is a new location starting in 2022). TurboTax can theoretically handle all that when you follow the interview carefully. But, it goes smoother if you use a work around in TurboTax (TT). Here's how I would do it. Enter the 1098-T, on your return, but only enter $4000 in box 1. No other numbers. You only enter the 1098-T to get TurboTax to check the proper box on form 8863. Lying to TurboTax to get it to do what you want does not constitute lying to the IRS. The 1098-T that you enter in TT is not sent to the IRS. Enter the 1098-T, exactly as received, on the student's return. Enter book and computer expenses separately.  In his interview, you should eventually reach a screen called "Amount used to calculate education credit" (or similar wording).  Be sure the amount in that box is $4000. You must complete the “education information” subsection to get that screen, This will put all his excess scholarship as income on his return (line 8r of Schedule 1). Be advised some people are saying they're not getting the "Amount used to claim the tuition credit" (or “Education Expenses used for a Tax Credit”) screen on the dependent’s interview.  Check the student information work sheet (part VI, line 17) to verify it was entered.  If not, the alternate workaround is  to enter $4000 less than the actual box 1  amount, when you enter the 1098-T. There's yet another (and simplest) work around. Manually calculate the taxable amount of scholarship and enter the 1098-T, on his return, with 0 in box 1 and the  taxable amount ($15,900* in your case)  in box 5. In that case the amount in the  "Amount used to claim the tuition  credit" box is 0 (if it comes up). Before doing that, it may be helpful to first delete the previously entered 1098-T and start over, so that there's not conflicting data still hanging around.   *24,000 - 10,600 -1500 +4000 = 15,900

I filed federal and state returns and then realized after that I understated my income by one dollar because of an import glitch. I filed an amended federal return for one dollar more and it did not change the amount of taxes I owe at federal level. Do I need to file a state return as well, even though this amendment does not show any change to the amount of taxes I owe?
Premier is the Desktop program so yes you can use it for Schedule C self employment.  You can even use Deluxe.
ANY version of the desktop download software can prepare a Schedule C.   You will get the most help in the interview screens with Home and Business.
Same thing just happened to me this year now no one knows where is my missing refund
Can we complete schedule C in turbo tax Premier or do I need business and home addition     thanks all

@TurboTaxSusan  "Our development team is looking into this issue" dated March 22.  One month later and the problem is still not resolved 😠   Thanks for the workaround, but this is an obvious TT error and it should be fixed ASAP!  Your customer shouldn't be required to perform a convoluted override on a Schedule for a standard option.  Some users have said the override caused a problem with Netfile.
In my return the GST seems to be given to me but I would rather have it given to my spouse. Is there a way to change this?

Thanks @Vanessa A. I'll file for each year going back to 2020 then. Can I file all of those at basically the same time: 2020 then 2021 then 2022 then 2023?    I'm still unsure about your example, why would you use $3000 on the 2021 return if you had no gains? Why wouldn't you just file each year, adding the current year passive losses to the carryover losses?    If I get TurboTax Live, would they be able to help with entering all of this into the state returns?

I'm having a VERY similar issue. I've used TurboTax tax the past 2 years with no issues. This year was a MESS. It was clearly a system error and they inputted the the wrong card info for me. Finally after waiting on hold for hours and speaking to multiple agents, a representative helped me and directed me to the refund request site and told me I should get a refund based on what I was telling her and what she could see on her end (she couldn't view all the info due to their privacy procedures). A few hours later I receive an email saying that my refund request was denied with there generic copy and pasted explanation that "all online system sales are final, blah blah". Are you kidding? I was charged  for filing my Maryland state taxes, but TurboTax routed my state payment to an incorrect, unauthorized stock account (which I only had on file to easily access my 1099) . As a result, my payment failed and I was not notified.  This error caused me to incur a penalty from the Maryland Comptroller for a “bad check.” due to insufficient funds (because of the system error mixing up the accounts).  I was also charged a Refund Processing Fee, despite my Refund Processing Agreement in my 1040 clearly stating $0.00 at the time of filing. I have record of all of this. I'm still waiting to hear back from the support team, but it looks like I'll be filing complaints with the IRS, CFPB, and BBB, and telling anyone I know to STAY AWAY.
Thank you.  I will contact Costco.ca then.
