Thank you, I was able to correct the issue.
Thanks! That helps clarify, however it does not appear that I’m receiving the credit on the DC return. Would you happen to know how I would update my tax return to obtain such credit?

Thanks for your response. I already paid all and filed tax return. Everything is complete. However, I only see a download link to the PDF which doesn't include full information. Also, interestingly, All PDFs for pervious tax return doesn't provide full information either. Could it be possible that TurboTax changed the policy not to include additional pages (e.g. worksheet)?

I got forced to upgrade to live deluxe because I had schedule b on federal and because I filed fed and state together I go charged $129 for fed and $69 for state (sure, I guess) but then, turbotax proceeded to make me get the 5 days early and charge me for direc deposit $35!? This is my first time doing taxes with them and I'm not sure what to think, is this normal? Can I bypass the 5 days early? Will it still charge to deposit into account?

Are there disadvantages of using the Actual Expenses method? I'm not talking about the additional work of collecting receipts but more about selling the vehicle down the road.    And also any disadvantages of using a mix of both methods whenever one method yields a better result each year?

On your 2024 tax return you can only claim charitable donations that you made IN 2024, in other words, by 12/31/24.
@ThomasM125 Thank you for your thorough response!  I changed the answer to stock (non-employee).  Fortunately, I had all of the other information.

Hi, I have a death benefit Pension that I received after my step-mother passed in 12/2020 (it was originally my father's pension plan).   A question is asked On the Pensions/Annuities/IRA Worksheet: Received Pension as a Beneficiary must be entered.  Options are: Beneficiary Pension Yes or Beneficiary Pension No. Box 7 has a 4 (Death). Distribution is fully taxable. Distribution is received in late Dec each year (started in 12/2023) and must be fully distributed in 10yrs. Is the question new for 2024 taxer year? Why does NYS need to know? How does this affect my taxes?

Thanks!   -oh I see, I already submitted the return. I will need to allocate the rental income for both NY and NC based on how long I lived in NY and NC even though the income was earned from a property in another state (IL).   1. How do I amend the return?  I don't see the option.  2. Which form would I need to fill out for NY and NC?   -I already submitted my return. Not seeing the State Tax section. Is it still possible to see it once I submit the returns?   -If I want to make estimated tax payments to NY online, can I make any amount or does NY dictate that I make certain amount of payment. I am online and it doesn't say how much so I'm planning to use the same as payment 1 for 2023.    -Can I use turbotax to help calculated estimated tax payments and pay it with Turbotax for NY if so how would I do that?

Yes. Since you live in DC, all of your income is subject to DC tax, no matter where the income is from. If you sold property in New York you have to file a NY nonresident tax return in addition to your DC resident tax return. You will pay NY tax on the gain from the sale of the property. On your DC tax return you should get a credit for part or all of the tax that you pay to NY.

In your original question you asked "where do I enter the portion of that amount that is from my state of California?"  According to the California FTB "California does not tax dividends paid by a fund attributable to interest received from U.S. obligations or California state or municipal obligations IF at least 50% of the fund's assets would be exempt from California tax when held by an individual.   It looks like you reported exempt interest dividend from a fund with more than 50% of assets that are California exempt, and should not be added back to your CA income.

That is normal.   The credit applies to your jointly filed return and will print the first name listed on a MFJ return.  The CRP worksheet (where the credit is calculated) will correctly reflect the spouse's information.   Since the credit is not applied per taxpayer, it doesn't matter which name appears at the top of Form M1Rent.
If you summarize the transactions with missing or wrong basis (Box B or Box E) you will need to mail the details of those transactions to the IRS. So, that's not much help.   @counselor155
