Who is "him" that you want to claim as a dependent on your tax return - your fiancé or the child? The previous replies assume you mean the child.
Depends on what kind of income.   If you are waiting to enter a 1099R---January 21.

Hi. I purchased TurboTax Deluxe Download last month. I installed it on one laptop. License was activated at time of installation last month without issue. I have been using TurboTax without issue for almost a month inputting information as my documents became available.       Everything was fine with TurboTax until today when TurboTax installed another update. As the update installed, the status bar showed percentage of progress. As the bar ran through 30% to 40% up to approximately 93 %, several multidigit random number strings appeared in the status bar in place of the percentages.       This did not happen with any previous updates.       When the update installation completed, Turbo Tax displayed my license key and said it needed to be activated. Since it was the only way to get back into TurboTax, I hit OK. At that point it told me I had now used 2 of 5 computers.       I'm still on the same computer I installed it on last month.         Why would it count one laptop as 2? I will be installing it on another computer in a few days, and I don't want issues with the program telling me I will then be on 3 computers instead of 2.       I am concerned that if this issue happened once it could happen again and continue to reduce my number of available computers until it reaches zero.       Any help from anyone, including TurboTax, in restoring my number of available computers at this point back to 4 would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry--no.   If you already e-filed it is too late to seek the advance refund loan.
When will the 2025 W-2 and 1099-NEC be available for the desktop version?

It's not a question of which is best. TurboTax Business and TurboTax Home & Business are for different types of tax returns. Has your LLC filed an election with the IRS to be treated as an S corp or a C corp for tax purposes? If so, you need TurboTax Business to file the Form 1120 or 1120-S corporation tax return for the LLC, separate from your personal tax return. You still need one of the personal versions to file your personal Form 1040 tax return. If the LLC did not make such an election, and you and your wife are the only members of the LLC, and you live in a community property state, you have the option to file your tax return as if the LLC didn't exist. (You treat it as a "disregarded entity.") You and your wife would each file a Schedule C for your respective shares of the business income and expenses. You can do this with TurboTax Home & Business. If you do not live in a community property state, the multi-member LLC has to be treated as a partnership. The LLC has to file a partnership tax return, Form 1065. You need TurboTax Business (not Home & Business) to file the partnership return. But TurboTax Business cannot do your personal Form 1040 return. You still need one of the personal editions for that. If you do live in a community property state, you can choose to treat the LLC as a partnership instead of as a disregarded entity, if you wish. The community property states are Arizona, California, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.

@Click wrote: Which other products do you use? I only have TurboTax.  I have them all (TT, HRB, TaxAct) PLUS professional software (different products personally and also for some colleagues).    All of the interview sections are NOT entirely finished (which doesn't impact the pro products as much since they're mostly, and basically, form entry) in any of them.

Have been using TurboTax for years and this isn't the first time I had issues installing it.  Purchased 2025 and it begins the very initial installation process, but after accepting terms and it begins the installation, I get the error "error reading from file".  I have full control of the file, I begin it with Administration control, have redownloaded it and rebooted.  Same error each time.

Thank you very much again, for an outstanding answer and help from you, Mr. dmertz.   Just need a little bit more clarity on your last paragraph, please. Based on my Turbo Tax knowledge, it is my understanding that the penalty is not incurred if 1) at least 90% of current (2025) liability is paid, 2) or 110% of previous (2024) year's liability if  2024's AGI is greater than $150k is paid- (100% of previous year's liability is paid if 2024 AGI is less than $150k), and 3) if the additional 2025 taxes owed while filing the taxes, by 15 April 2026, is less than $1k.  Are the conditions 1), 2) and 3) "or" based and the least of any of these 3 conditions will suffice or the maximum of the 3 conditions have to be met?  Note:  My AGI is more than $150k.  Please clarify.  And, thank you again so very much in advance for your great help.

The issue was, did you have to take yearly RMDs or not. That is where the confusion was, IRS decided to waive requirements to take yearly RMDs for those years for all since the rules were not clear. The  Clarified Rule: Yearly RMDs are required only if the IRA owner had reached Yearly Distribution age. If your benefactor did not reach that age, the whole issue is moot.

You received a message from Marketing.  Marketing does not really know if your W-2 is available now.  They just want your business.   TurboTax does not have your W-2.   W-2’s come from employers.  There is not a federal or national website that provides W-2’s.   If your employer is partnered with TurboTax to allow the W-2 data to be imported into the software you can do that---but you need the actual W-2 so that you can enter the EIN and the amount from box 1 to import the other data from the W-2---which just saves you the little bit of keying in of the other information.   Every 2025 W-2 that you received must be reported on your 2025 tax return, even if they are for small amounts.  Remember that each one of those W-2’s has your Social Security number on it, and that income was reported to the IRS by the employer.  You do not want trouble with the IRS for under-reporting your income or have your refund delayed by having missing income.   ALL of your W-2’s must be entered on the SAME tax return.     Go to Federal>Wages & Income to enter a W-2. After you enter the first one, you click Add Another W-2.     W-2's come from your employer, and they have until January 31 to issue it.  Some employers allow you to import the W-2 through the software, but for security reasons you still need information from the actual W-2 to import it. Some employers have payroll sites that will have your W-2. You might need to phone, text, drop in, email and/or snail mail an old employer to make sure they know where to send your W-2.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-forms/get-copy-w-2/L8FTim9MO_US_en_US?uid=m68ee4os   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/import-export-data-files/import-enter-w-2/L55HzdeDr_US_en_US?uid=m68efe36   And….SAVE YOUR OWN W-2!  TURBOTAX DOES NOT SAVE IT FOR YOU.  TurboTax will not have a copy of it in your account and will not have an image even if you snapped a photo or imported it.  It is up to you to save it for your own records as stated on the back of the W-2.
The 2025 W-2 is only provided by your employer
