I am assuming this is for NY, as NY is very particular about the document entry. Enter the first 3 characters after, not including "IDUSA". Some other users experienced errors with incorrect issue and expiry dates, so double check they are correct and not swapped as well.

If you need extra time, filing an extension by April 15, 2026, moves your submission deadline to October 15. But remember any taxes owed are still due in full by the original April 15 date.

Go back to the beginning of the file steps. You can file the federal by itself first and then file the state later. But you can't file the state before you file the federal. But you don't have to send them both together. When you get to the filing screen, uncheck your state return so TurboTax will only send the federal.
How do I e-file my state after I already filed my federal?

We have been cordial and kind, needing help for a week with this "5th E-file" fiasco. We still need too file our taxes, we did 4 of our family members, and still unable to do ours after hours on the phone and getting hung up on, and then closing the case WITHOUT resolution. From what I have been reading, this is an ongoing issue for months and their software still is not fixed, UNEXCEPTABLE. We have been loyal for over 25 years, well, we will no longer use them and ensure our friends do not as well. I am beyond stressed and disappointed how we have been treated.

If you need extra time, filing an extension by April 15, 2026, moves your submission deadline to October 15. But remember any taxes owed are still due in full by the original April 15 date. Pay through either Direct Pay or your individual online account. See if you need to file a state extension.

My account says that I have over $5k in extra income Do you mean that your tax return says that you have over $5,000 in extra income? Or do you mean something else? Please clarify. Instructions for IRS form 2441, page 5, states: Line 14 If you had an employer-provided dependent care plan, enter on line 14 the total of the following amounts included on line 12. • Any amount you forfeited.
