How do I amend my federal tax return on Turbo Tax online?
Which changes?  Turbo Tax won’t be ready for 1099R until Jan 21.   The $6,000 new Senior Deduction is ready now.   What are you looking for?
No.  Unless your efile rejects, then you can  change it and resubmit it.

I got the same message, but it said we could skip for now and come back later. But i had already input the numbers, and when i got to the end of the form, it appears to have submitted my return. So I hope that means either that is has been corrected early or that Turbo is hanging on to it until it will clear.

I have a unique (for me) situation that I have never encountered before. My spouse and I were only covered by an HDHP for Jan-Nov in 2025. I retired in May 2024, and got to remain on my last companies HDHP via COBRA for 18 months. That means it ran out Nov-2025. I got the cheapest plan on the ACA exchange I could find for December (my spouse refused to weather a gap in insurance coverage). The plan I got was a cheapo Bronze plan that amazingly wasn't HSA eligible, and the cheapest HSA eligible plan would have cost $2500 instead of the $1500 I paid.   No biggie, until I started using TurboTax to do my taxes. I can walk it through all of the HSA questions, accept my contributions to Spouse and own accounts ($4858 each) that included a $45.83 return of excess contributions (cause I tried to contribute 11/12 of two individual + 1000 catch-ups instead of 11/12 of family max + two 1000 catch-ups). It all works, and my 1040 looks great etc.   But I am still waiting on a 1099-B and a 1099-INT (although I pretty much know what they will say... confirmed by my oddball W2 that includes the ESPP discount), so I save and exit... one step shy of e-filing.   The bug is in how it saves and then restores the "return in progress". This has happened at least three times: Saying both myself and spouse are covered by a family HDHP for Jan-Nov, but not December breaks it's brain. I can tell immediately because my $1900+ refund that was there the last time I worked on it disappears and is replaced by a $900+ ballance due. So I have to go back through and correct it, even though I now know that it will happen pretty much every time I save and return later.
I have the same problem.  How can I set up an email alert for when the 1099-R form becomes available?  I don't need a 3903 form.  Thanks!

@M-MTax : "H&R Block will almost certainly abandon Windows 10 support when security updates are no longer being released and that's likely to be this year (or next)."   Microsoft could offer ESR support for Home and Pro for as long as they plan for their other Windows 10 editions.  For example, the Extended End Date for Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 is Jan 13, 2032  (see here).  Microsoft is already on the hook for ESR support for IoT Enterprise for another six years; so they'll likely already have the binaries required for any corresponding security patches for the Home and Pro editions.  It would just be a matter of packaging them up for those editions at the same time they do that for Enterprise.   Yes, there's no guarantee that other tax software vendors will follow Microsoft's lead.  They could all just take Intuit's lead and ditch Windows 10 before Microsoft does.   Also, there's no guarantee that any current Windows 10 PC will last that long either.  Hardware can and does fail.  In my case a system board failed, replacement boards were no longer available, and building a new PC from scratch would have been more expensive than just buying a brand new pre-built Windows 11 (!) PC.   "In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes, and Microsoft pushing you to buy a new PC."  - Bill Gates?  😬

With respect to privacy and the company to select, some people are between a rock and a hard place.   Some don't want to use ANY online platform to prepare their tax return and also don't want to upgrade to Windows 11. That eliminates TurboTax as an option.    As a result, only H&R Block and TaxAct are viable. H&R Block is fairly inexpensive but clunky and who knows what type and how much data they collect while TaxAct is pretty expensive, comparatively, and ditto on the type and amount of data.    I wish all of them good luck with their choice.
