No, I cannot e-file an amended 1040X or New York IT-201X with Turbotax (even though the originals were e-filed with TT) because they make you change the filing date to last year and then tell you e-filing is closed. The following link you sent is a TT joke. I was able to e-file an amended NY 2022 return with Turbotax but am unable to to the same for 2024. Makes no sense but there it is. I will mail fed and state returns, begrudgingly. I have been asking folks on here if I should attach TT's updated versions of my original 1040 and IT-201 to my amended returns, as I did for 2022, but I can't seem to get an answer. What do you think? Thanks. TT's joke: Can I e-file my federal Form 1040-X amended return? by TurboTax • 4833 Updated January 14, 2026 9:34 AM Generally, you can e-file your amended 2025, 2024, or 2023 federal return via TurboTax if your original return was also e-filed in TurboTax. However, there's a chance your return can't be e-filed based on your unique situation. If this happens, you'll need to print and mail your tax return. If you're amending your return for 2022 or earlier, you need to print and mail your amended return. Follow these instructions to amend a prior-year return. Your amended return can take up to 20 weeks for the IRS to process. If further review of your return is necessary, the IRS may take longer. Three weeks after mailing your amendment, you can start tracking it at Where's My Amended Return? on IRS.gov.

OK, maybe someone else will be able to test this or I can try to test it at home later.

Hi @xxserenityxx,
If you e-filed your return before the IRS starts processing returns this year, it'll stay in pending status until then. After that, e-filed returns generally sit in pending status for 24–48 hours before being either accepted or rejected. You can read more here.

First, if you made contributions by payroll, they are captured automatically from your W-2. Don't enter them again when asked. You are only being asked about extra contributions you made out of pocket.
Then, make sure you reviewed the entire HSA interview and indicated that you had qualifying HDHP insurance all year and no other disqualifying coverage.

What tax year is that corrected document from? If it is from last year---or some other prior year-- you cannot import it. Financial institutions take down past year information and only allow importing of current year data. Most financial institutions will not have 2025 data available for import into tax software until mid to late February.
They often have it up on their website so that you can print it for yourself and/or enter it by hand sooner if you want to.
A corrected past year tax document will have to be entered into your amended return by hand.

It is possible that you are entering as your personal contributions, amounts that were already payroll deducted which you consider to be "personal". If so, since HSA contributions that are payroll deductions are already part of the amount that is carrying from your W-2 (box 12, code W), you must not repeat that contribution in the second line as a "personal" contribution.
This is not obvious, but it is the way the IRS uses the terminology.

@mark_van No, you are not missing anything. When using the TurboTax online editions, the state program software is separate fee. Currently $39 when using the Deluxe or Premium online edition.

Are you in the section for "sale of your home"? If you are in the section for selling other kinds of assets, you will get different questions.

The 1099-R section went active on 22 January 2026. I have already made a very accurate total tax/refund due computation using the "Forms" button and Old School 1040's. I made the required RMD withdrawal from my traditional IRA and paid the tax due at the same time. When I reach the middle of the new 1099-R input section, it asks "RMD due by Dec. 31, 2025" It would seem logical the entry would then be compared to the amount I already entered as having withdrawn to make sure I withdrew the RMD or more. Instead, it immediately shaved $1,500 off the refund I already computed. It makes no sense to me that if the number you enter into the box for the Required Minimum Distribution is LESS than what you actually withdrew, that any change should take place in the computed refund amount. I won't be filing until this question is resolved. Thank you.
