You do not add Form 502CR. Instead:   Enter your 1099‑R normally Go to Federal → Wages & Income Open Retirement Plans & Social Security Enter your 1099‑R exactly as shown Make sure the payer code and distribution code match the DFAS form After the entry has been made, TurboTax will ask is this military retirement, you will say 'yes". This is the trigger that tells the Maryland return to apply the subtraction Once you enter the information and continue to the Maryland State return, TurboTax will automatically:   Identify the income as military retirement Apply the correct subtraction amount Place it on Maryland Form 502, line 13, with code U To verify if the subtraction was made. Go to:   Go to State → Maryland  Continue until you reach the Subtractions section in the interview.  This is in a screen in the Income and Adjustments” or “Subtractions from Income.” It can also be labeled "Maryland Subtractions. Look for a screen titled “Maryland Subtractions” or “Subtractions from Income.” Look for Military Retirement Income Subtraction to see if there is an amount listed there. Note: there is no Form 502CR that reports military subtractions. This is reported directly on Maryland return Form 502 on line 13 with the code U. Maryland 502CR is used to claim credits such as the Earned income or Child tax credit. Military retirement is not part of that form

Do you mean that you need to add another tax form to your tax return?  Please clarify.   If you have filed your income tax return and now need to add another tax form to your tax return, it is best practice to wait to receive your refund before you amend your income tax return.  However, it is not required.   If your return has been transmitted and rejected by the IRS, you can correct your tax return and re-transmit.    If your return has been transmitted and accepted by the IRS, you will have to amend your Federal 1040 tax return.  However, before amending your tax return, do not enter the return and do not make any changes.    If you used TurboTax Online, log in to your account and select Amend a return that was filed and accepted.    If you used the CD/download product, sign back into your return and select Amend a filed return.    See also this TurboTax Help.

@HICA    Yeah..  the RMD question/instructions for the first year is incomplete.  You enter a zero ONLY if you are delaying your RMD to the next year.  You go ahead and enter your actual RMD if you took it for 2025. ____________________ A lower taxable amount??   Depends... Did you transfer some to charity for a QCD?   that would lower it. Did you indicate you had some non-deductible contributions to the IRA in the follow-up questions?  that might lower it too.   Not sure what else would do that.
