Premier is a version of desktop download software that you download to your own hard drive---so if you have Premier you can use desktop software to create"scenarios" to try out.
If you mean you used online ---- the version you mean is called Premium---- and no, you cannot use the account you used to prepare an online return to test out various scenarios or you will destroy your tax return.
First----distinguish whether you have desktop or if you used online. You must not use the same online account for "dummy" situations that you used for your own tax return. If you want to play around with online, you will have to create a "dummy" account online for that.

we are going through this exact same thing right now $12,000 worth of floating in limbo. it’s absolutely ridiculous. I can’t believe how many people are going to the same exact thing as us right now I’ve called the IRS multiple times. I’ve reached out to TurboTax multiple times and I just found out today that our check is with Cross River. I didn’t even know that was a **bleep**ing bank through TurboTax like what the hell is even going on??! we just need our money!

You can look in your 2024 account to see if it shows that you filed a state return. If it turns out that for some reason you did not file the state return or that it was rejected, you can still file it, but it has to be filed by mail. If there is a prepared ---but unfiled--- state return in your account, then print it, sign it and mail it in to the state.
If you did not prepare a state return at all, then you can use the 2024 desktop download on a full PC or Mac to prepare it, or you can go to the state's website to see if you can get the forms to prepare it on your own.
You will be able to access the 2024 return you started by using the exact same account and user ID that you used when you started it. But you can no longer use online software for any further changes.
Start a 2025 return online and enter some personal information so that the menu on the left opens up and lets you access your past year returns.
Online tax preparation and e-filing for 2024 returns is now permanently closed.
Now it is too late to use online software or to e-file. If you have any changes/corrections at all to make to your 2024 return, you now have to complete it using desktop software, which you must download to a full PC or Mac (not to a mobile device). Then you need to print, sign and mail it.

If you already paid for your online software you can ask customer support for a download of the desktop software.
They are available from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Pacific time

If you are getting a refund, there is no penalty for filing late. If you owe tax due, then file and pay the amount due as shown on the Form 1040, but expect a bill later from the IRS for the penalty and interest you will owe. Only the IRS will calculate this—TurboTax will not calculate it.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

Yes, you must respond to the California Franchise Tax Board Compliance Bureau letter directly. TurboTax will not call on your behalf and receives no information from the IRS or state after you file your return. It is a good idea to verify the letter by logging into your account here or calling 800-852-5711 before sending any requested documentation.
If you purchased Audit Defense, you may be able to get help with the letter you received. For more information on Audit Defense (and to determine if you purchased the service), click here.

If you are filing as Married Filing Separately you are not eligible for the deduction. If you are Single and your AGI is over $175,000 or Married Filing Jointly and your AGI is over $250,000 you are not eligible for the deduction.
If you are age 65 or older and meet the requirement, the additional deduction is automatically added on your federal tax return.
Standard deductions for 2025
Single - $15.750 add $2,000 if age 65 or older Married Filing Separately - $15,750 add $1,600 if age 65 or older Married Filing Jointly - $31,500 add $1,600 for each spouse age 65 or older Head of Household - $23,625 add $2,000 if age 65 or older
New Bonus Standard Deduction (OBBB): An additional $6,000 deduction for taxpayers 65 and older. This is per eligible individual, meaning a married couple both over 65 could get $12,000. Important: This bonus deduction is temporary, lasting from 2025 through 2028. Income limitations: It phases out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.
The amount is calculated on Schedule 1-A, Part V, with that amount flowing to Form 1040 Line 13b
Look at your Form 1040 -
You can view your Form 1040 plus Schedules 1, 2 and 3 at any time using the online editions. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.

The IRS/States is currently processing a high volume of e-filed returns, so it can take several days for your payments to go through. The IRS/States may debit the payment after the deadline. Also, it can take the banks another few days to post the debit to your account. As long as you filed you return or extension on or before April 15, 2026, and you selected April 15, 2026, or earlier as your payment date, you won't get penalized for late payment. If you don't see the debit in your bank account 7–10 days after their return has been accepted, call the IRS e-file Payment Services at 888-353-4537 or contact your state tax agency.
