@anca-vague it's a non-refunduble credit, i.e. line 22 of form 22 can't go below zero. is that the issue?

@ Jecunda wrote: My return was rejected numerous times. The Intuit "specialists" were no help. I know the AGI was correct because I went on the IRS website to verify it. You didn't say what the rejection error code was, but since you mention AGI, that's the only clue. So I'll assume it was one of the AGI rejection codes. Since you said "my", I will assume you are a single taxpayer, and that this is not a married joint return. The answer would be slightly different if it is a married joint return. It's a little bit of a leap to answer a question when we don't know the rejection error code, so keep that in mind when you view this answer. I'll tell you the normal steps that one should take when verifying for efiling. The first attempt at efiling would be to verify by using the 2024 AGI from the original 2024 return--not an amended one. If that didn't work, then the next attempt should be to use a 2024 AGI of 0. Did you try that? If not, you should. Even if the AGI is correct in your Online IRS account, it can still fail. This is a common question in this forum, and an AGI of 0 often solves the issue. The IRS has many databases, and they use a special one for efiling. Often the AGI of 0 will work after the actual 2024 AGI fails. This happens more often when a 2024 return was filed late in the year or on paper and didn't make it into the efile database. So if you haven't yet tried an AGI of 0, then that's what I would do next. If the 2024 AGI of 0 fails, the last thing to try if one wants to efile, is to get an IP PIN (Identity Protection PIN.) The IP PIN is a "more powerful" verifier than 2024 AGI. The IRS says it will serve to verify your identity when efiling instead of your prior-year AGI. If you have an online IRS account, you can get an IP PIN inside your account. Get an IP PIN: https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pin If you end up doing that, the 6-digit IP PIN is entered into your return under Federal > Other Tax Situations > Other Return Info > Identity Protection PIN If all of that fails, then you won't be able to efile. At that point one would need to file by printing, signing, dating, and using postal mail.

At the beginning of using TT 2024, how do I get it to "pull" info from my amended 2023 return (not from my original 2023 return) into my already-completed 2024 return? Please advise. Many thanks!

Doesn't the amt include carryforward losses and wipe out that income.

The suggested workaround will correct the miscalculation of missing QCD; but I am afraid it will invite an audit since the IRS screening AI will be looking for two 1099 R and if it sees only one, it will invite an auditor to look over. It can be explained but it is just more hassle.

I had made a QCD for part of my RMD and took the rest for personal use. I received two 1099 R. Due to miscalculation on my part, I have a shortfall in my RMD (which I noticed in Feb 2026 and corrected; those funds went to charity). I entered the data manually and every entry is accurate. I had to enter my husband's also. Now the software is adding my QCD to my shortfall and that has literally doubled the penalty etc. I have deleted the entries and reentered them multiple times; the same error keeps appearing. None of the tech support people know how to fix this. Any suggestions? Thank you

the old turbotax layout allowed one to enter the misc income section and select "other reportable income" and under that there was the section 988 option that one can select and enter numbers. now under MISC income you can only enter 1099-MISC, but with no option to choose from a list "other reportable income' or to find the section 988 page. really? so how do one enter section 988 forex income now, or has turbotax simply deleted that functionality? this new layout sucks..

OK look , I paid for my federal and state taxes has shown in the attachment on top of some kind of processing fee $44. I filed my federal no problem I went through taking it out of my refund and my state is supposed to be in the same bill but it is not allowing me to file unless I pay $59 more, but I am not gonna do that seeing as I already paid for both. Please give me a service code or something that I can put in that will alleviate the problem, thank you.

I have made a qualified charitable contribution from my IRA and I have a shortfall in my RMD. Turbotax is adding the QCD to the shortfall and increasing my penalty & the tax I have to pay. I have reentered the forms multiple times, nothing corrects this error. The software cknowledged the 1099 R for the QCD as QCD and said this will be documented as such; but , later on, when I go to fill the 5329 for the shortfall, the QCD has been added to the shortfall. All the agents tell me that I need a tax expert; 2 tax experts wasted 3 hours of our time and did not even look at this part. I tried entering on line 1 in the section asking what the required RMD the actual QCD amount; but this just ended up increasing the total RMD by that amount and hence did not correct the error. I have spent probably 24 hours talking the agents; none of them know what to do. Any other suggestions? Thanks

Hello, Is anyone facing an issue when adding more than one 1099-INT with the same Payer name where Turbotax will repeatedly replace your first entry? Is this a bug, or is there no way to add multiple 1099-INT forms from the same payer? For example, if you have multiple accounts with the same bank, you'll get a 1099-INT form for each. I don't recall facing such difficulties previously. Is this a bug or is there some new rule that I'm not aware of?
