You can start by going through the estimated taxes in the program and putting in the change in filing status and income. You can make estimated payments or change withholding on the income you receive.  If your income varies, check each quarter. If you have a consistent income, you can determine it now and change withholding or make estimated payments to get on track. You have to decide first if you want to have a refund, break even or just owe a little. Once you decide where you want to land, determine your tax liability. See this  post of mine to help determine tax liability and tax bracket. Make your withholdings cover the amount of tax due plus or minus any refund or balance due you want as a buffer. Online users don't have the choice...if they're the right age...they get the -SR.
I filed on 01/22/26 and it was accepted and estimated refund date 02/13. but, I have not received my refund yet.

I had a very bad experience filing my tax this year. Your staff are very dismissive. I was told I will get a call 3 times and I got none. I submitted my form t2200 the tax expert decided it was not needed then didn’t include it in my tax. He didn’t even call to discuss my tax with me. Then I called back to complain about this, I provided the details again to him. I expected that when he is done with the adjustment he will call me only to know after 4 days that he sent an adjustment without my consent.
I have a number on my W-2, however when looking at my YTD on IDP it shows a slightly higher number. is this normal?
@alexisbeldin07    Could be a couple things.....We'd need the exact text that is posted before someone could hazard a guess.

Same situation here.  How in the ever loving #### can the IRS be this incompetent?  In 2026 they are literally not able to discern between the capital letter 'I' and the numeral '1' or the letter 'Q' and the numeral '0'.  Talk about your tax dollars not working for you.  I found this post by Google-ing along with other forums / blogs (Reddit, etc.) of people saying the same thing, getting the same letter from the IRS, having purchased Daikin / Goodman units, and getting the "you didn't' fill the form 5695 out correctly" letter even though their forms are filled out correctly.  Shameful, just shameful that the IRS could be this incompetent.  So now, I get to submit the same information again for a refund that I should have received probably 3 weeks ago, just so they can sit on it another 6-8 weeks according to the "we'll get around to it when we are good and ready" line in the letter I received.

@pjbaker    Go to the end of the list of states and select "Multiple States".   That question isn't particularly applicable for FL residents, but you can't move on until you select "Multiple States"..   If you work in some other state that has an income tax  (some FL residents do work in a border state), then that question might have some significance for the non-resident tax return they have to file.
2025 TurboTax may be the worst TurboTax in years.  It can not import 2024 TurboTax return save in pdf.

@Allen14 When you entered the 1099-R for the pension withdrawal, did you enter an amount for RMD for the pension?  Pensions and annuities (in other words, retirement plans that make regular payments) are considered to satisfy the RMD requirement for those accounts.   Go back in and edit your 1099-R for the pension.  As you go through the screens, you will see one Let's get more information about your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) - go ahead and enter the amount in box 1 as the RMD amount.  On the next screen, How much of distribution applied to your December 31, 2025 RMD?, you will select The entire distribution applied to the December 31, 2025 RMD.  That will get rid of the 25% penalty on Form 5329.
