@bteschel the payment was due by January 15,     You can use  form 2210 to reduce the penalty.   https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f2210.pdf   Here's why: Unless you use that form, the IRS assumes your income was the same each month of the year and the tax was due quarterly based on that smooth income.  However, your income was probably "lumpy" since you completed a Roth conversion late in the year.   Form 2210 will adjust for that.  It won't eliminate the penalty but it will reflect that the penalty should only be for the 4th quarter.
You're brave to try it! But I'm still wary.

I have a PC that has Windows 10 on it and can't be upgraded to Windows 11. The 2025 Turbo Tax PC-based software only operates with Windows 11. So, I'm going to use the Turbo Tax Online program for my 2025 federal and state tax returns. I'll e-file both federal and state returns after 3/31/26, but before 4/15/26. I believe the cost of the Turbo Tax Online "Deluxe" version will be $79. Is that correct? The actual e-filing of the federal return should be free. Is that correct? Also, what will the cost of e-filing my associated state return be? I'm a bit confused by Turbo Tax's advertised prices. Thanks.

Hi, I have the same issue as you where I try to amend the 2024 return online and it redirects me to the 2025 return when trying to finalize the amended return. I assume it's a TT bug where they have not considered the case that somebody started the 2025 return when amending the 2025 return. I would like to find out how you amended the return using the desktop version? I tried that and am facing these issues: 1. When I select 'amend return' in the desktop version, I don't see a way to import my tax file and have to start with an empty slate. 2. When I import my tax file, I don't see a way to amend the return.  Perhaps I'm missing something. Any guidance greatly appreciated.

Is it true that when paying 2026 quarterly estimated 1099 contractor tax payments that you can avoid underpayment penalties by paying 100% of your 2025 income? (Divided into 4 for each quarter?) If so, is this true even if your 2025 income was very low, and didn't include any 1099 contractor income? (And only included Texas Unemployment and savings interest income?)   Additionally, is it true that it's technically not your 2025 income but your 2025 total tax liability that you pay 100% of in 2026 across the quarterly payments to avoid penalties? Which could possibly be $0 if your 2025 income was below the standard deduction threshold of ~$15,700? And in that case would you be essentially exempt from making 2026 estimated quarterly payments since there would be no penalties?   Also as a side note, I'm not sure if I need to be setting aside 25% or 30% for 1099 taxes. How can I have this estimated for me personally?
I didn’t mean to hit no on not wanting to have eitc
I want to know how much my amended tax return will be

You can go to your settings in your Intuit Account and  can change the email address (using the steps below.)    While there, try to go ahead and verify it. Log into Online TurboTax, and in the left menu column scroll way down to Intuit Account. Then once in the account choose tab Sign In & Security. You can change the notifications email address, if desired.  If you do, also try to verify it while you are in the account settings.  Then maybe they won't try to send you a code again when efiling.

If you used Online TurboTax for both 2024 and 2025, here's how to look for multiple accounts.   You can use the tool at the link below.  When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it.   After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access. NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop.  Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below.  You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session. https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access,  here's another method: Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by other parameters.
The email address [email address removed]  is no longer active.

First, check your email's spam/junk folder to see if the code is ending up there.   If that's not the problem, you can go to your settings in your Intuit Account and may be able to verify your email address there if it's not verified.  Or you can change the email address if desired (using the steps below.)     Here's how: In the left menu column scroll way down to Intuit Account. Then once in the account choose tab Sign In & Security. See if your email address has a tiny link beside it that says "not verified".  If so, click that to verify. Perhaps once you verify it there in the account settings, it won't ask you to verify it again when you are efiling. Or you can change the notifications email address, if desired.  If you do, also verify it while you are in the account settings. If after all that, you still can't resolve your issue, here's how to reach TurboTax Support 5AM-9PM Pacific, 7 days/week.   FAQ: What is the TurboTax phone number? https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/what-is-the-turbotax-phone-number/00/25632   If you use Free Edition and don't have phone support, another way to reach them if you have social media is to direct message a Support agent: https://x.com/TeamTurboTax or https://www.facebook.com/turbotax

By "won't download", I suspect you mean it won't "install."   You should be able to get the installation file, but 2025 desktop TurboTax requires Windows 11--it will not install on Windows 10.   You have a couple of options.   I presume this is personal tax software, not the dedicated business version.   You can get a refund for the 2025 desktop software (we can tell you the online form to use,) or you can use your purchase to transition to Online TurboTax Premium Edition to prepare and file one Federal return and one state return for no additional fee.   The filing must be completed by April 16, or the offer expires.   After first reading the FAQ below, if you want to do that, then here's how to do it.    Start installing the desktop software on your Windows 10 computer.   You will get a screen that says it cannot install due to Windows 10, and will ask you if you want to move to Online TurboTax.    If you want that, you must use the offer from that screen.   Follow all the directions.   It will have you log into your Online TurboTax account (or establish one), then you will enter your license activation code.   Be aware that unlike the desktop software, Online TurboTax has no Forms Mode, and the online version can only prepare 1 Federal return per online account per year.  Any additional Federal return would require a separate account and separate fee.   FAQ:  TurboTax Desktop to Online Offer Terms (Tax Year 2025)  https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/marketing/ty25-ttd-direct-offer/L0aUgksJd_US_en_US
