@sonzoil On your Form 1040 if Line 38 is blank (empty) and you do owe an Underpayment penalty the IRS will calculate the penalty and send you a bill in the mail.   Is there an amount on Line 38?

You may have to ask your employer, or check your pay stubs.  For 2026, the overtime must be reported in one official way, but for 2025, there is no official method, and I don;t know if your employer used the correct method.   Overtime is only deductible to the extent it is required by the Fair Labor Standards Act.  This means the "half-time" when you are paid time-and-a-half for working over 40 hours.  If you make $20/hour and work 45 hours, your deductible OT is 5 hr X $10.  If you are paid overtime for working more than 8 hours a day but don't go over 40 hours a week, that is not deductible.  If you are paid more than time and a half, or you are paid shift differentials for working nights, weekends, or holidays, that is also not deductible, because it is an employee benefit or a contract benefit but is not required by the FLSA.  And if you are classified as an "Exempt" supervisory worker, your OT is not deductible because it is not required by the FLSA.   If you don't know how your employer calculated the amount in box 14, you should ask them or calculate it yourself from your pay stubs.

I received a similiar message but it did not inform that a fix would occur.  F1040-478 - If Form 1040, 'IRADistributionRolloverInd', 'IRADistributionQCDInd' or 'IRADistributionOtherInd' is checked, then 'IRADistributionsAmt' or 'TaxableIRAAmt' must have a non-zero value.       The issue is that the 4a (IRA) rollover box is checked and should not be, I can't figure out how to uncheck it, while my 5a (pension) rollover box is also checked, which is correct.  I will try wiaiting until Mar 13 and see if this issue will be resolved as shown in your message.   Can you confirm if your 1040- lines 4a and 5a rollover boxes are checked?

My wife and her brother were on the title/deed of their mom's condo, and it was set up as a joint ownership with right of survivorship.  She passed away, so my wife and her brother inherited the condo.  The condo was sold at a loss.  Both received a 1099-S, but if you enter it using the form added to TurboTax ("Sale of Home"), there's no option to show it as and inheritance, and it thinks only my wife owned the condo.  As such, the capital gain is excluded.  Neither my wife or her brother had a financial interest in the condo.   If I enter it under investment income, it gives the option to indicate "inherited" and properly calculates the capital loss, but it says Form 1099-B.  Is that OK?

TurboTax requests a valid ID at checkout to help the IRS and state taxing authorities prevent against fraud when filing your tax return, but this step is not required.   If you do not have a valid driver's license, you can use a state ID or skip this section.    For some states, not including this verification may delay the processing of your tax return.   Here is a TurboTax article that discusses the request for an ID.

Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted? Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.   You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".   After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.   Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.   To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product. If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...   After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.

Yes, I tried that.  The screen response was "No underpayment penalties based on entries you don't have a penalty for underpayment of estimated taxes" then it asks me if I want to review estimated taxes.  When I was going through the software initially I allowed the IRS to determine my penalty.  With how much I now owe, and what I paid total in estimated taxes in 2025, it seems I should be getting some kind of penalty.

The IRS website for the status of a federal tax refund indicates the refund was issued? - https://www.irs.gov/refunds   If you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from your federal tax refund, the IRS will send the refund to a third party processor to have the fees and the $40 service charge deducted. The third party processor will deduct the TurboTax fees plus the $40 service charge and then attempt to direct deposit the remaining refund balance into the account that you entered on your tax return. For the status of your tax refund you will need to contact the third party processor, Santa Barbara Tax Product Group, using their website - https://www.sbtpg.com/ Tax Products Group Contact Information - https://help.sbtpg.com/hc/en-us/articles/230084587-Contact-Information Call 1-877-908-7228 Or email - TPG-CSsupport@greendotcorp.com
