There are different steps to follow to use a tax file (.tax) versus a PDF. Your Mac should be able to convert the 2024 return in either format for use with the 2025 Mac program. Please see below and in this article: To transfer info from your 2024 TurboTax for Mac return: Open TurboTax for Mac 2025 and choose File New Tax Return. Select Begin and choose Use a tax return that's on my computer. Select your 2024 return from the list and select Continue. If you don't see your return, select Find your tax return. If your 2024 return is on another computer, here's how to move it to your present computer. Select Continue to review the transferred information. We'll also give you opportunities to review, edit, or delete transferred information later on. Be aware that once you've gone past the Transfer screens, you can't go back to revisit them. If you need to re-do your transfer, go back to step 1 to start over with a new return. If you have the PDF soft copy of a 2024 return created in non-TurboTax software, you might be able to transfer from the PDF. Please advise if you are still experiencing this issue. There is no version called Business Deluxe---so not sure what you have---except it sounds like you have some version of desktop download software. Desktop download includes the software to prepare a state return, but there is an extra fee of $25 to e-file that state return. And if you choose to pay that $25 by having it deducted from your federal refund (instead of paying $25 using credit or deb it card) then you are also taking on an extra $40 refund processing fee that goes to a third party bank.

Thanks for the help. I actually resolved the issue after i posted the question. It appeared that my turbotax 2025 mac desktop version was unresponsive so i forced quit the app. Afterwards, I fired up the app again and then attempted to import my 2024 tax return file and then it worked! I later successfully imported two more 2024 return files to prepare for additional 2025 returns.

I agree with the other expert. Each Turbotax online account can only file one tax return, so if you already use TT online, you would have to create a separate account for your parents' return (different user name, different password, but can be linked to the same email address.)
When you set up the account, use your parents' names since it will be their return.

My previous employer mailed by 2025 W-2 and I noticed that the Box 13 Retirement Plan Box was not checked. I have an amount in 12-D and did contribute to a 401K while I was there. Do I need to get a corrected W-2 from them and do I need to wait until I receive before I can file my taxes for 2025?

You can get an IP PIN for your dependent and Efile again. If she doesn't have the letter from the IRS with her info, and she's under 18, you need to call 800-908-4490 to get it. If she's over 18, here's info on How to Retrieve your IP PIN.
If you just want to remove her from your return, you can Delete a Dependent in the My Info/Personal Info section.

If you withdrew money from an IRA, you have 60 days to return it without tax consequences. This is considered a rollover, even if you returned it to the same IRA. In Turbotax, after entering the 1099-R, you should be given a list of circumstances that might reduce your tax, and one of those options should be rollover. Indicate that you rolled over part of the distribution.

I'm having this same issue. Final trust filing and getting double taxation on capital gains. I've not paid out any income distributions to beneficiaries in previous years and only paid Interest/Dividend income taxes through the Trust. This year I've liquidated all holdings and distributing all principal and income to surviving beneficiaries. Only one is getting the income distribution via K-1 to get tax advantages based on their current income. It is doubling the total capital gains from stocks, etc... on Schedule D and Form 1041.
