@gunner5 wrote: What is the support plan for TT on Linux?   There is no support plan for ANY tax preparation software, whether it be TT, other DIY software, or professional tax preparation software.   If you're dead set on running Linux, you'll have to use a browser-based solution (i.e., hosted in the cloud) as do many tax professionals at this point.

It is not a credit but a deduction. It only reduces your income before the tax is calculated.   The 6,000/12,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. Turbo Tax automatically includes it if you qualify.

see this IRS webpage. The IRS thinks you deducted more mortgage interest than allowed. https://www.irs.gov/individuals/understanding-your-cp28a-notice  If the amount is incorrect, you'll need to amend your return. If correct, you'll probably have to prepare a worksheet showing the calculation and include it in your response. You have to respond following the directions in the notice.  If you need help with this, you can send your notice to Audit Defense. It's provided by TaxResources, Inc., also called TaxAudit.com, in partnership with TurboTax. If you paid for Audit Defense and you received a notice, call TaxResources, Inc. at 877-829-9695, or report your notice on their website at http://intuit.taxaudit.com/. Do not contact the tax agency until you have spoken to TaxResources. They may contact them on your behalf. If you did not pay for this service, you can still contact them. There will likely be a fee
