Sorry---TurboTax and the IRS save returns for seven years.   A 2013 return is long gone.   It has been purged.
You can refer to the TurboTax article How do I track my state refund? to find out more information regarding your refund after you e-file and your state tax return is accepted.

I am so frustrated.  I have a 179 carryover for a water heater from 2024 for a rental property.  The amount did carry from 2024 to 2025, however the program states the amounts do not match when they do.  I've tried reentering the amount over and over and I get the same results.  They do match but the program refuses to accept that.  How can I get past this?

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities,  There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals.  Some states process returns quickly and some are very slow.   STATE RETURN Make sure your state return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   To track your state refund:       ttps://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0

If you're using desktop TurboTax, here's navigation for the desktop version:   Federal Taxes tab (Personal tab if using Home and Business) Subtab Deductions & Credits. "I'll choose what I work on."  (if asked) Your Deductions & Credits Summary page. Scroll way down the summary page to topic "Estimates and Other Income Taxes Paid". Expand that section to show the subtopics, and a subtopic may either just say "Estimates" or the more wordy "Estimated Tax Payments."   In any case, choose that subtopic. On the next screen choose the appropriate category for these payments (Federal, state, local).

Hi Champ, Yes, Amy's reply is immensely knowledgeable and useful. It has offered something workable which is to confirm the cash method and to confirm IRS's understanding of the mismatch in financial years and hence its openness to accept taxes paid during the year, irrespective of the fact that they were in fact paid for the previous financial  (India) year.   To answer your questions, 1. I am a us resident and tax payer. My tax home is US. 2. My income in india is interest income from banks and dividend income from mutual funds. 3. Form 26AS (which is like a 1099) from india clearly mentions the effective receipt date for incomes and one is best of sticking to those dates as those are the ones recognized by indian tax authorities as well. 4. When income was received and how to pick out incomes received jan-dec is not a challenge at all. It is very easy to segregate and put together. The challenge lies in taxes paid, as taxes are paid basis on different type of tax year (apr-mar vs jan-dec). Further, taxes paid in India are delayed, for example, my CA files my return in September  5. Using TDS method is highly flawed and creates more work than anything else. One could use TDS if they dont file returns in india and TDS = actual taxes paid. In my case, i file returns in india and a lot of the TDS paid gets returned the next year.  The whole conversation is look for ways to get things done without having to amend returns several months later as that is an OBVIOUS way to do it but not the most effective unless one has nothing better to do.   Incomes in my case are ;investment income = interest+ dividends
they’re all a bunch of compulsive liars that will say anything to get you off the phone without any genuine understanding, we literally know more than they do which is close to nothing.

Solved it myself.  Many online sources say that NC Form D-400 - Line 26EU will display the entry "E" if your answer to NC Form D-422 - Line 3 includes checking the box to indicate that you are a fisherman or farmer.  Even if you leave this box unchecked, there is another item that can fill 26EU with an E. Here it is: Right click on the E  and then select DATA SOURCE. The modal that pops up explains that the Code "E" will calculate for 2 reasons: -- The Farmer/Fisher election previously mentioned, OR -- IF any of the 4 values shown at Line 25 on Form D-422A is greater than ZERO.
Nevermind I figured it out.   E and O are similar.   O worked.

the President changed the rules and only wants the IRS to do direct depsoit  see this IRS webpage https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-to-phase-out-paper-tax-refund-checks-starting-with-individual-taxpayers  if you got an advance, or elected to pay your fees from your refund a paper check was never an option.    do what the notice says. The longer you wait, the longer your refund will be delayed

It seems 2024 Turbotax should support e-filing amended returns according to this Intuit TurboTax Article @ https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/e-[product key removed]-return/L9tXL1Nuh_US_en_US   Can I e-file my federal Form 1040-X amended return? by TurboTax • 5758 Updated January 14, 2026 9:34 AM Generally, you can e-file your amended 2025, 2024, or 2023 federal return via TurboTax if your original return was also e-filed in TurboTax... ____________________________________   2024 Turbotax Windows desktop application does allow e-file of an amended 2024 tax return. Selecting continue on the E-Filing is closed for the season page allows the sending of e-filed returns. However, the return is rejected by the IRS after transmittal with "IND-689-01 - The year of the 'PrimarySignatureDt' in the Return Header must be equal to the processing year." I'm not sure why, but 2024 Turbotax requires the use of a signature date of 01/01/2025 through 12/31/2025 on the Correct Your Signature Date page. I strongly suspect that is what is causing the rejection of the amended 2024 tax return being e-filed in 2026. I attempted to report this as a coding error since the article referenced above and posted by Turbotas this year indicates it is supported. Intuit Turbotax support indicated that it is not supported and that mailing is the only way to file an amended 2024 return. I asked repeatedly how I could identify a possible coding error. They suggested the Intuit community. It may be poor training of the support team. It may be intentional to limit e-filing to a single year. Either way it is a shame that it does not work!   .

My stepchild sons biological father, whom has had custody since mid 2013, claims he doesn't have any of his documents, i.e social security card or birth certificate. Says he hasn't claimed him on taxes the whole time from not knowing the social. I claimed him with my partner in 2013 and need a copy so I can get his social security number so that we can help him file for a new card.

As of this evening (19 FEB), today's update to turbotax fixed the issue with 6a.  However, I have now completed form 3115, and the depreciation §481(a) value is not transferring over to my Schedule E, and therefor not being factored in my return.  How can I get my 3115 to reflect on Schedule E?
The page for it says "Depreciation and Amortization will be ready by February, but likely sooner" and does not allow entry of Depreciation and Amortization data.
