"Where would I put the info when I was deployed" - This question, which should not apply to your situation, is found in the My Info/Personal Info interview.   On or about the screen*** where TurboTax asks for your name and SSN, TurboTax also asks you if you served in the military in 2025. You should have answered No. If you answer Yes, then you will be asked other things, including where you were deployed...but you should not have ever gotten that far.   ***Sorry to be imprecise, but this question about military service seems to wander around, but it should be in the My Info/Personal Info section somewhere...   @south-bay-don1
I rolled over 401K IRA to traditional IRA. What am I being taxed
No.  You are not required to provide that information.   You may qualify for a deduction if you're legally obligated to pay interest on a qualified student loan.

Microsoft 365 is $99.99/yr (family), Adobe Acrobat Standard is like $150/yr, the higher tier of NordVPN is around $85/yr, TaxAct Premier desktop is $150, I have a second tier PDF pro package that costs over $70 for an annual renewal.    It makes no difference that TurboTax gets used for a few days, it's the price of admission for preparing tax returns. You can always use free programs out there such as freetaxusa.com.
@DianeW777  Wow, how thoughtful, but you deserve it more than me for all you put up with here (lol). your kindness is very appreciated. ✌️

My WFA advisor told me to choose Wells Fargo Clearing services and it worked.  This is new for 2025 but it did work.  Seems like TT should have known this though!

Look for state tax credits as you go through your state return. You will want to claim as much state tax credit as possible. If there is any left, you can deduct it on the federal sch A for tax paid. You can't claim on Sch A amounts used for the state credit.    For example: If you donated $1,000 and received $600 state tax credit, you may claim the remaining $400 on Sch A.

I'm frustrated that Turbotax counts each attempt at a state e-file as usage toward your 5 state e-file limit.  For instance, I tried to e-file a state for a family member recently and it did not transmit on the first two attempts due to software updates needed.  On my third attempt (after I realized I needed to check for software updates), my state return was finally transmitted electronically through TurboTax.  Intuit counts this as 3 e-files for state when it fact it was only one actual e-file state transmission.  I spoke with multiple customer service reps at Intuit and even escalated this up to the highest level (more than 3 hours on the phone with their customer service) and no one was able to figure out how to correct this major flaw in the system for tracking e-files for state. This is important to me as I have 5 state e-files that I planned to use and and 2 were erroneously used up by a major flaw in the Intuit tracking system.  Message to Intuit: Please count the e-file limit for states based on actual transmissions, and not on attempted transmissions.  This is a major software flaw and should be fixed ASAP. Your current method feels so incredibly unfair and wrong to your paying customers.

Take the original return (Form 1040) and review it line by line with the amended Form 1040 to see what changes may have occurred. There are actions that can decrease income in one section and then increase in another which can be confusing.    Once you review the Form 1040, provide additional details and we will be better equipped to give the best guidance.   @jeffmorrison30

To change from the Tax Court method to the IRS Method for allocating interest and taxes (usually for vacation homes), you must change how you calculate the rental percentage: change the denominator from 365 days to only the days the property was actually used (rented + personal days). This is done specifically either in the Schedule E worksheet or by updating the property use questionnaire in the rental entry section in TurboTax. See this thread for another discussion of the issue, and this American Bar Association article for more information.   When entering rental property info, find the section asking about days rented and personal use. The IRS Method divides rental days by total days used (rental days + personal days).  The Tax Court method (or Bolton method) allocates mortgage interest and property taxes for mixed-use rentals based on the ratio of days rented to the total days in the year, rather than total days used. This method generally allows a smaller portion of taxes/interest to be allocated to rental use, maximizing potential deductions for other operating expenses.
