To pay your state taxes through TurboTax, you must select your preferred payment method during the File section of the interview. If you have already filed and need to find your payment instructions or a voucher, you can access them by downloading your full return, which includes a State Filing Instruction page.
If you chose to pay by check, TurboTax generates a state-specific payment voucher. To locate it:
Sign in to your TurboTax account.
Scroll down to "Your tax returns & documents" and select "Add a State" (this is a workaround to reopen your return without actually adding a state).
In the left menu, select Tax Tools, then Print Center.
Select "Print, save or preview this year's return".
Check the box for your State return and choose to include all forms and worksheets.
The payment voucher is typically located at the very end of the state return PDF.

There apparently are no supervisors or managers. They are flying by the seat of their pants and are not a full service provider. My original return, completed by a so called Tax Expert, was blatantly incorrect and I am 3 weeks into an amendment attempt. The system is not allowing the amendment to be filed. One more time, is a supervisor or manager available?

New York State uses three different methods to calculate tax for residents. The method you will use depends on two specific lines on your IT-201. These are Line 33 (your NYS adjusted gross income) and Line 38 (your NYS taxable income).
If Line 33 is $107,650 or less and Line 38 is under $65,000, you have to use the NYS Tax Table.
If Line 33 is $107,650 or less and Line 38 is $65,000 or more, you have to use the NYS Tax Rate Schedule.
If Line 33 is $107,650 or more (regardless of your Line 38 amount), you are required to use the NYS Tax Computation worksheet, which is a much more involved calculation.
The most common mistake is when someone with a NYS AGI (Line 33) of $107,650 or more uses the tax table or the rate schedule instead of the computation worksheet. Those methods will produce an amount that is typically lower than the correct amount of tax. Not following the correct calculations for your AGI and taxable income will result in interest and penalties.
To determine which method applies to you, be sure to check Line 33 and Line 38 of your IT-201. To get a preview of your return before you file, you can follow the instructions here.

Do you have your new IP Pin to use for 2026? This number changes every year.
You can get an Identity Protection pin here, or if you lost your IP PIN, you can go here to Retrieve IP PIN.
Here are two ways to navigate to the section to enter the 6 digit IP PIN:
Log in and open your return ("Take me to my return")
Once the return is open, then go to the Federal Taxes tab.
Subtab Other Tax Situations
Scroll down to Other Return Info.
Choose Identity Protection PIN and Start (or Revisit.)
Next screen asks: "Did you or any of your dependents get an IP PIN from the IRS for this year's taxes?"
Or another way:
Open your return if not already open. ("Take me to my return.")
Once the return is open, click at the top on MY ACCOUNT, then choose TOOLS.
In the Tools window choose TOPIC SEARCH.
Enter IP PIN without quotes.
In the selection list highlight IP PIN and click GO.
Next screen asks: "Did you or any of your dependents get an IP PIN from the IRS for this year's taxes?"
Here's how you can fix a reject:
Sign in to your account and select the Fix my return button. Follow any “fix it” instructions to update the information causing the rejection.
Note: Not all rejections will have explicit guides to fix the information. You’ll need to navigate to the program area to address the cause of the rejection.
Time-saving Tip: If what you originally entered is correct, you won't be able to e-file. There's probably a data mismatch at the government, a dependent that's already been claimed, or some other situation beyond your control that prevents your return from being e-filed. In this case, your only option would be to print and mail in your return. This article will give you instruction on how to print and mail your return.
Additional reject instruction here.

Yes, you must figure out the taxable amount if your Box 2a is "Unknown" or blank.
In TurboTax, leave Box 2a empty and check the "Taxable amount not determined" box (Box 2b). This will cause TurboTax to ask follow-up questions about your cost basis (after-tax contributions) to calculate the taxable portion of your distribution.
If your box 9b (after-tax contributions) is blank or unknown, you can generally assume the full amount in box 1 is taxable, or use IRS Publication 721 to calculate the taxable portion via the simplified method.
Please return to Community if you have any additional information or questions and we would be happy to help.

If you received a "Success" message but your data hasn't appeared in TurboTax, it is likely due to recent browser security updates regarding Local Network Access.
To fix this you need to allow TurboTax to securely retrieve your data through your browser settings:
Locate the View Site Information icon (the "tune" or "lock" icon) on the far left of your address bar, just before the URL.
Find Local Network Access in the dropdown menu.
Toggle the switch to ON.
Refresh the page and attempt your import again.
What do I do when my data isn't imported into TurboTax Desktop even though it says successful import in my browser?
If permissions aren't the issue, one of the following factors may be at play:
Brokerage Delays: While most forms arrive by January 31, many brokerages delay Consolidated 1099s (like the 1099-B) until mid-February due to complex reporting requirements.
Availability: Your brokerage must specifically "release" the import file to TurboTax. If it isn’t ready, we recommend checking back.
Connection Blocks: Active VPNs or aggressive Anti-Virus software can occasionally block the import feature between your bank and TurboTax. Try disabling them temporarily or switching to a different browser.
