I just ran into this today (April 12, 2026) to amend 2024. IRS allows amendments electronically for 3 years. What is worse is that New York does not allow paper filings or amendments! So how am I supposed to file an amended NY State return if Turbo Tax doesn't support efile?!?!?!

An IP PIN (Identity Protection PIN) is a 6-digit number the IRS gives you to prevent someone else from filing a tax return in your name. Here are clear steps you can take to retrieve your IP PIN: 1. Check for IRS Letter CP01A. 2. The IRS mails Letter CP01A each year with your current IP PIN. If you have this letter, use the PIN listed on it. 3. If you don’t have the letter, get your IP PIN online at the IRS's Get an IP PIN site https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pin, or 4. If you can’t access the online tool, request one by phone. Call the IRS at 1-800-908-4490 to have your IP PIN mailed to you (this can take up to 21 days). We can't issue IP PINs and you won't find them on your tax paperwork. You can only get IP PINs from the IRS. For more information, see How do I get my 6-digit IP PIN?

I invested through CashApp. I did not receive any paperwork from them. My dividends came to $0.65.

Yes, TurboTax is correctly following IRS rules by adding your 2025 state tax withholdings and the 2024 state taxes you paid in early 2025 to determine your total state income taxes paid during the 2025 calendar year.   Make sure that your "4th Quarter 2024 payment" made in Jan 2025 was not also included in your 2025 W-2 withholdings.   However, the total State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction reported on line 5a (or 5d) is capped at $40,000 for the 2025 tax year and TurboTax should have applied this.   Line 5d of your Schedule A should be the total state and local taxes paid. This may exceeed $40,000. Line 5e should be the lesser of 5d or $40,000.   If this is not what is shown on your tax return you would have to amend to correct this if your return has already been accepted. If your return has been accepted you will have to wait until your return is fully processed and you have received your return to amend it.   Once your tax return is fully processed, to amend your return using TurboTax Online you will: Log in to your TurboTax account. At your homepage, look for "Your tax returns & documents" and select the correct tax year. The you will select the "Amend (change) return" dropdown and in the dropdown choose "Amend using TurboTax Online". Follow your prompts, and select your reason for amending. Make your corrections, and make your corrections (add your interest income). Make sure to review your return before filing and then  follow the prompts to e-file or print and mail Form 1040-X to the IRS.    The IRS has a tool to determine if you should amend your tax return that provides some valuable information  Should I file an amended return?   You will be able to track your amended return using this link  Where's My Amended Return? on IRS.gov.   See also:    How to File an Amended Tax Return with the IRS   If you have additional information or questions regarding this, please return to Community and we would be glad to help.

@ user17760397233 wrote: I did not get an email, I have a cardboard file in hand References to an email are for folks who purchased the product as a download at the Sams website (or Costco).  If you physically bought the product in a Sams store, here's some info:    I don't know how it works at your particular wholesale club.   But here's a common scenario:  After you purchased a card in the aisle at Sam's, then after paying did you take the cardboard card and receipt to a desk and get the product with the license activation code?   They usually have to get it out of a room/closet.  We have seen people pay for the product then leave the store without picking up the code.   Does the card you refer to have the license activation code on it?   It's in the format XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.  This is a PUBLIC Internet forum, so do NOT post it here. If your card does not have the license activation code, you'll have to take it back to Sams with your receipt, and ask them to pull you copy of the license activation code.   If your card does have the code, but you need help with downloading, installing, or activating, we need to be sure what version of TurboTax you bought.  Specifically, was it for Online or desktop TurboTax?   Sam's sells license codes for desktop TurboTax and for Online TurboTax.    The 2 versions are activated through different methods.   Here's what Sams sells:   Desktop Deluxe Desktop Deluxe Federal + State Desktop Premier Desktop Home and Business Desktop Business (corporations, partnerships, estates, trusts) Online TurboTax:  Individuals & Homeowners  (Online Deluxe) Online TurboTax:  Investors & Self-Employed  (Online Premium.)
I hate being cheated on this tax return. After spending hours getting to the end of it, I'm upcharged by over $200 on a service I did not use. Time for class action, folks.
