My resident state is WA. It seems like the alternative is the 763 form, but when I go that way and uncheck, I commuted from DC to Virginia daily, my estimated return significantly decreases.

Your actual SS card probably doesn't say that. Go back to My Info and check all your info. There is a question that asks if your ssn is not valid for employement.

I looked for my saved 2024 Turbo Tax and it wasn't there! I finally found out I had to find the saved return and it re-installed the software and then loaded a return that was totally wrong! I have used Turbotax for 50 years and have recommended it to anyone that asked. I had a knee replacement January 20 and am on pain meds and taking physical therapy. The last thing I needed was to see that I couldn't find my 2024 return to start my 2025 return. When I found it, it showed I owe $2800 in taxes. I actually received a refund. That's the way you treat 50-year loyal customers. Now I have to try to figure out how to straighten out this mess. SHAME!

Now you have to wait until the IRS finishes processing the first return and you get the refund or pay the tax due. Then you need to amend it. The amended 1040X return won't be ready until late February. How to Amend the current year https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-federal-tax-return-current-year/L7eS6o1qh_US_en_US?uid=lfunevhk The amended return will only be the difference you get back or need to pay. You can confirm this by printing your amendment and looking at the 1040X. Line 18 should be your original refund amount and line 21 should be your additional refund. If you paid on your original return it will be on line 16 (but don't include any penalty on 1040 line 38). If there is an amount owed with the amendment, it will be on line 20.

What is the problem? The 2024 tax return I submitted and got a refund is not what I'm looking at. The .tax2024 return I pulled up shows I owe $2800+. Are you in TurboTax Online, or are you on Desktop? Desktop What version, or product are you in? Home and Busines What section are you trying to post? NONE! I'm looking for the return I filed What are the details of your problem or calculation error? It is NOT the return I filed. After 50 years of using Turbotax, I expect an explanation of what changes you plan to make before a whole year goes by and my return is not available.

Are you asking about a state credit? If so, what state? The credit is probably a non-refundable credit, meaning the credit can't be more than your tax liability. So, if you already don't owe any tax (you have no tax liability), you won't receive any credit. You can check your tax return to verify your tax liability.
Your federal tax liability amount is found on Form 1040 (line 24).
Nonrefundable tax credits can reduce the amount of tax you owe, but they do not increase your tax refund or create a tax refund when you wouldn’t have already had one.
Refundable tax credits can result in a tax refund if the total of these credits is greater than the tax you owe.

Did you open the software to see if the function was working? I would say probably not because you would know that the function is not working if you had.
