To update this, you have to bypass the standard login screen. Check if you have a backup verification method enabled.
On the screen asking for the code, select the small blue link that says Try something else.
If you see an option for Email, select it. You can receive the code via your verified email address.
Once logged in, go immediately to Intuit Account > Sign in & Security and update your Phone section with the new number.
If that doesn't work you will have to do a manual review by the Intuit security team to verify your identity.
Go to this link, Intuit Account Recovery Request. You will need a high-quality photo of your Driver’s License, State ID, or Passport. You will select that you are updating your Phone Number.

I HAVE TO VERIFY MY IDENTITY
Sometimes the IRS chooses returns randomly to request verification of identity and sometimes there is something on the return that triggers the request. No matter why the IRS has required you to verify your identity, you need to follow their instructions in order to receive your refund. If you do not verify your identity you will not get your refund.

MY RETURN IS UNDER REVIEW
The IRS is getting more and more vigilant to prevent identity theft and fraud. People who file very early in the season are sometimes scrutinized more. Do not take it personally. TurboTax does not get any information from the IRS after they accept your return, so no one at TT knows that your refund is delayed or why. TurboTax cannot speed up the IRS for you. All you can do is wait for the IRS to finish processing your return. Watch the refund site. If the IRS wants more information from you they will request it. If they want you to verify your identity, you must follow the IRS’s instructions in order to do that. In many cases they will send you a letter—and you will have to wait for that letter.

To check on regular tax refund status via automated phone, call 800-829-1954.
Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities. There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.
TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days” is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
https://www.irs.gov/refunds
To track your state refund:
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr
If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing

.
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst
If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act. Do not expect your refund before early March
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US
Note: “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”. TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing. Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing. If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.
FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE:

How it works
Where's My Refund shows your refund status:
Return Received – We received your return and are processing it.
Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown.
Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.

If you still have 2021 TurboTax installed on your PC, you can use it to prepare the 2021 Form 8606. Otherwise, it's rather trivial to prepare it manually. Either way you'll need to print and mail the form. As long as you have not made any nondeductible traditional IRA contributions for 2025 or traditional IRA distributions in 2025, you can file your 2025 tax return first. As long as you made no such contributions or distributions after 2021, that 2021 Form 8606 will become the current documentation of your basis.

You do not do anything about that. TurboTax will always show that you owed tax due, since that was the result of the return you prepared using the software. TT never knows how, when or even if you paid your tax due. Your proof that you paid is your own bank or credit card statement. The IRS will show that you paid in your online account with the IRS.

It sounds like you are in the right place, but you may have mistakenly picked the wrong choice when you first started that section. Try going back to it again and be sure to select the option to Estimate sales tax deduction using IRS tables. This will take inputs for where you lived and for how long in each state, but you will not need to enter any amounts that you spent.

You can file an extension, which will allow you to file until October 15, 2026.
This is an extension to file your tax return, not an extension to pay your taxes. You must estimate your taxes due and pay them by April 15, 2026 to avoid penalties and interest.
You can use TurboTax to e-file an extension by clicking here.

The repayment of the premium tax credit (PTC) is taken out of your Federal refund (or added to your Federal tax due).
It does not affect your CA state refund.
