The online version is garbage... Can't even access forms at all when entering info. Desktop only available for newer Windows... and forms are not completely editable (at least not at the stage I'm at - final review). Maybe I have to complete it... Directions are vague. Support is unresponsive. My return involves multiple rental properties so depreciation schedules are a mess. As I'm taking over my aging parents property management, Turbo Tax is definitely not good for people that weren't following depreciation schedules by the book. I guess once you go through the pains for IRS audit from all the minor differences from the years prior, this would be convenient moving forwards. Best of luck getting help from Turbo Tax.

My spouse and I filed jointly on our Federal return but in Missouri we are required to file as a "combined" return where we list our income separately. My spouse has no earned income, only a small amount of interest and dividends from jointly held accounts. So that is listed separately. We also have a tax credit on the MO-TC form which has an option to split the credit by spouse: If you are filing a combined return and both you and your spouse have income: • Use Column 1 for yourself and Column 2 for spouse. • Both names must be on the credit certificate. The tax credit comes with a certificate of eligibility from the state and it was required to have both of our names since we file combined. The question is do I have to split that credit 50/50 with my spouse on the MO-TC form or can I put it all under my column? I cannot find anything that clearly states it must be split 50/50 like the interest on our jointly held accounts. If I split it we effectively lose half of the credit since my spouse has a small enough income to have no MO tax liability and the credit is not refundable. It seems strange to be penalized in that way, especially with no way to fill out the tax credit eligibility form as only one spouse making the donation that the tax credit is applied against. Thanks!

If you made estimated or quarterly tax payments in 2025 toward your federal, state, or local taxes, enter them in the Estimates and Other Income Taxes Paid section. TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to estimated tax payments under Deductions & Credits. TurboTax Desktop: Go to the Federal Taxes, then Deductions & Credits. Select Estimates and Other Taxes Paid. Select Start or Revisit next to the type of estimated tax payment you'd like to enter under Estimated Tax Payments. Enter the amount of estimated tax you paid at each of the quarterly due dates. If you paid 2025 estimated taxes in 2025, you'll enter just one amount for each state or locality. Where do I enter my estimated tax payments?

Aloha Friday Chris, I have been having the same issue and have been on with a live person for 2 hours and 40 min (currently on hold). She suggested I clear cache and cookies (all time) and then use"New Incognito window, which I'm on now, but still not showing up unlike the previous years. Just to see what happens, she had me enter zero for rental income (which of course I can't do as I already reported and paid state taxes on it) and all of my numbers were displaying, but fed due increased and state refund decreased. So I changed it back and still trying to figure out what to do. She says it's a glitch and I should be able to enter all expenses, but why it's not showing up is the dilemma, so is trying to get help on her end. So stand by.

Using the step-by-step interview, I entered all the necessary info for me, (divorced with custody and providing support) and my son, (lived with me 365,etc.). All good. Results were that I can file HOH because of my and my son's situation. Unfortunately, this data input also generates the "Dependent and Non-Dependent Info" page. The result is that the "duplicate person error re: qualifying person" error pops up when e-filing. And this is when no other persons had been entered or referred to. I finally figured out that the cure is to delete son's name from that superfluous page. Under the above circumstances, why does the program generate this unnecessary form, then inform you that an error was made and then, in very ambiguous language, force me to figure out how to correct it. The data gleaned from the interview should provide the necessary information that eliminates this duplication error.

My husband has always been listed first on our married-filing-jointly tax returns. He passed away this year. I created my own turbotax account, chose married-filing-jointly again this year, and imported prior year turbotax data. My husband is listed first in the Personal Info section of the turbotax desktop software and I marked him as deceased with his date of death. However, when I preview the federal return before e-filing, the return shows the Deceased checkbox checked, his date of death, but then it says "spouse" next to the date of death. Since he is the first name listed in the return, the "spouse" is me. How should I modify the software data to ensure the tax form correctly reflects that my husband is the deceased person, not me? Thank you!

I had a problem with duplications. I deleted the duplicates and all was well until I got to the end of the return. All at once I confronted with many necessary corrections. My refund fell by over 100%. and I was filling out an Excess RMD form. The form slots were not populating as they should; I was asked to fill in an RMD amount, I did. The from however, did not populate the distribution amount. The program believed that I had taken out much more money than the RMD. I couldn't get any help and was certain the program was not working properly. I deleted the return and started anew. I found one of the reasons for the duplications was not turning off the forms inputted from last years return, for my spouse. All of the forms were downloaded twice the first time around. My suggestion is to pay close attention to what forms belong to whom and deselect when prompted as necessary.

I have the same problem too. I accessed my last year's return, updated turbo tax 2024 to include whatever updates came from last year, resaved the file and it still didn't work. Turbotax 2025 just beeped at me instead of importing last year's information. I guess whoever's maintaining the program these days feels that's all the information their users deserve to get. I checked to confirm that last year's return was not encrypted. There was no option to remove encryption and it didn't seem worthwhile to reencrypt their file, so I called Intuit's help line instead (30 minute wait). So I'm passing the time sharing my information with other users. It's too bad Intuit can't spend part of its marketing budget improving its help files. They get a lot of business from repeat users, but are ending up with alot of frustrated repeat users. Maybe someone will come up with a substitute product with better customer support.

I tried all the hints to fix this error Failed_Validation Error Code 54 Deleteing and re-attaching form 8453-FE Running TurboTax Business 2025 as admin and right clicking for updates Uninstalling and re-installing TurboTax Business 2025 (running as admin) Turning off all Microsoft security and anit-virus features Downloaded the superpatch from Intuit Took a photo of form 8453-FE and let TurboTax convert it to a PDF Nothing worked! Spent over 1.5 hours on the phone with Intuit Tier 1. Now has been escalated and I'm waiting (possibly over an hour) for a call back. I do not want to mail in my return as the IRS has previously lost a mailed-in return. I do not want to re-type everything in the online version. This problem was first reported January 31 in these forums. It is March 12 and it has not yet been resolved? I was able to e-file my 1040 from regular TurboTax no problem. Running Windows 11 on a Dell Precision 5560. Would appreciate any other ideas I didn't try.
