How do you adjust the expected withholdings for next year on the estimated tax worksheet? And does TurboTax allow you to setup your estimated tax payments for next year for automated withdrawal?

On the Form 1040, when I go to Federal Tax/Deductions and Credits/Education/ESA and 529 Distributions(Form 1099-Q) I am not allowed to enter any data and see the message "Available soon". This has been the message for weeks now. I cannot complete my return without entering the 1099-Q data I have received. When will this subject be open fpor use?

Designating a property or properties as a real estate enterprise does not affect whether or not losses are realized or suspended. Rather it is a safe harbor for QBI purposes. As mentioned above, since you have ten properties, you may have net income from the others that is being used to offset the loss. In addition, if may have sold a property that resulted in allowing suspended losses. I suggest you review your Form 8582 (Passive Activity Loss Limitations). Activity on that form should explain what it transpiring with your real estate loss.

My filing status is Married Filing Jointly for Federal Tax Purposes. We have a home in Indiana, where I consider myself a resident (what I stated on the Federal form). However, the majority of my time is spent in Illinois (Chicago), where I have an apartment and work full-time. Am I considered a Non-Resident or Part-Year Resident? I just started to do my Illinois state return and am confused by the question "Did you make money in Illinois in 2025 but never live there?" Technically, no, because I did "live" there. Not sure then whether to answer Yes or No.

Yes, if the correct amount is shown on your return, then there may be an issue with the sales tax deduction screen. I do not see any open or confirmed investigations on that topic.
If you like, in order for us to troubleshoot this issue, you can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions for TurboTax Desktop users:
From the black bar at the top of your screen, select Online
Click Send Tax File to Agent
Click Send on the message that pops up
TurboTax will create a "sanitized" copy of your return information with no personal info
Post the full token number here in this thread
Here are the instructions for TurboTax Online users:
Go to the black panel on the left side of your program and select Tax Tools.
Then select Tools below Tax Tools.
A window will pop up which says Tools Center.
On this screen, select Share my file with Agent.
You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is. Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.
Reply to this thread with your Token number. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information.
We will then be able to review your file to see what you are seeing, and we can determine what is going on in your return and provide you with a suggested resolution.

Thanks for your detailed reply. With that in mind, there doesn't appear to be any reason why I shouldn't get a $2000 energy-saving improvement tax credit after having completed the form and double-checked my work. However, the TurboTax form says that I am not eligible for any tax credit. Unfortunately, it doesn't list a reason why and I've been unable to determine the reason myself. I'm reluctant to pay a TurboTax "expert" to figure out an answer. I tried using the Chat function to find an answer but it was useless.

If you choose 'All forms required for filing' in the Print Dialogue box, scroll down in the second window and uncheck the State box or you will get your Federal and any states printed.

No, I do not have another 1099 for this account. And the problem I am facing is that Turbo Tax thinks that having $0 in box 1 is an error, and is blocking me. Is this an error with the form from my institution or is it a bug in TT? Thanks

Hi, I had some foreign income last year and I was able to use TurboTax to file my taxes with the foreign income and foreign tax credits. I don't have any foreign income this time, but I am trying to use the carry-on foreign tax credits. In the foreign income section, I have tried putting my foreign income as 0 and carry-on credits as $1000, but it just won't reflect in the final return. I have also tried putting my foreign income as non-zero and the carry-on credits still won't reflect. Has anyone successfully filed via TurboTax website using carry-on foreign tax credits?

The accounting department claims the w-2 is correct as Box 11 is only reflecting the vesting of an executive pension plan. The pension was not paid out as a lump sum but rather is being distributed in small monthly payments. They also produced a separate w-2 for the second half of 2025 when monthly income was actually distributed from this plan. I left box 11 blank in my Turbotax return since vesting in a pension plan is very different from receiving an actual cash distribution and there was no other way around this glitch. Was that correct?

Yea, once I realized TurboTax was trying to charge me extra just to talk to a "live expert" I tried another service (free tax usa) and had no problems, it took maybe an extra 15-30 min to just start everything over there. As long as you upload last year's tax filing when you begin, it's super easy. And much cheaper!

Can you please confirm that CSV 8949 import will work on the desktop version and not just the online version once it is ready?
