I am completing my state taxes for Maryland. In fixing the "errors" it is prompting me to: Check this Entry Information Worksheet: Prior year tax must be entered. Why did this worksheet not get populated from my previous year tax submission? Where would I find this information to make sure I input the correct amount?

In order to qualify for TurboTax Free, specific requirements must be met. Was your daughter paid as an employee with a W-2 form? If so, as long as she doesn't have any other credits that are not supported under the free edition, she should be able to use that program.
However, if she was paid as an independent contractor and paid on a 1099-NEC form, she would have additional forms (Schedule C and self-employment taxes) that need to be completed as part of her tax return.
Please see what qualifies as a simple tax return for TurboTax Free Edition for details on which returns would qualify.

No, you don't need a corrected W-2. Report the amount from your W-2 Box 14, and select "overtime" in the dropdown category. Later in the interview, you will be asked to confirm that the amount reported is correct. The interview will state your W-2 shows $XXX in overtime pay, but you can change it if the qualified overtime pay is different. Check the box I need to change this amount. Note, only the "half" pay from time-and-a-half (the overtime premium) is deductible. There is also an income phaseout (this starts at $150,000 for single filers and $300,000 for married filing jointly). My 1099-R is entered into TurboTax exactly as it is on the form. My form shows State income tax paid, but no State Distribution. Error check wants an amount in "State Distribution." My State income tax is based on the amount entered on my 1040, so correcting the error will not change my taxes. But, I don't want my filing rejected. If I correct the entry, the entry will not match the 1099-R. If I don't correct it, I will be filing my return with unresolved errors. Which, if either, will cause my return to be rejected? Am I better to fix it or not?

Thanks for your response. The problem is that on the Oklahoma tax return, the gambling winnings amount was recorded on the correct line and in the correct column. The exact same amount was also included on a line called taxable income and in the Oklahoma column, thereby doubling my income made in Oklahoma and doubling the tax liability. I have checked my federal return and cannot find where gambling winnings are also called taxable income. I wonder if amending my Oklahoma return would afford any opportunity to delete the taxable income line? I will appreciate any further help you can provide. Thanks, Dan

I did not have any Foreign Tax Credit, so I don't think I need this form at all to be included in my return. It is automatically generating it--and I cannot delete it.
