Thank you for providing the NJ instructions - - and you are correct, it is clearly shown as tiered;   My "source" was Microsoft CoPilot.   Because of TurboTax limitation in providing future year tax projections, I tried to use CoPilot, and have been going around and around with it on a number of issues, both to try to learn how to use it, and to determine whether it's worth using;   I have determined, in this case, CoPilot is harmful;    It flip flopped on this pension exclusion 4 different times....(and literally made me think I was interacting with a robot from 1973 movie "Westworld")

Thanks!  I was trying this without any success.    Ended up using a different browser.

This is Desktop Turbotax. I believe I specified that in the list of queries asked before the post goes up. Maybe it doesn't appear properly. Regardless, this has nothing to do with browsers.   You also mention brokerage delays. As I stated, I have received all the 1099's, including the 1099-R for the trad to roth conversion.   Regarding availability, I suppose this may be involved, though it seems unlikely.   Regarding connection blocks, if either VPN's or AV were involved, the import would fail to run at all. I'm not running a VPN, and my AV would alert if it blocked a network connection.   I appreciate your having looked into this.   I'll try importing again after the March 6th deadline my brokerage stated for all tax forms to be released, though it seems weird that they'd release the 1099's for download but hold back import of one of the accounts.

@RobertB4444 Hi, how do you import a file (pdf or other formats) on the desktop version? will the update for uploading CSV file be available soon on desktop too? The date of acquisition for my stablecoin is across multiple dates. Is there a way to indicate "various" in Box 1d date acquired in the upload? Thanks!

Thanks for taking the time to reply.   I spent another couple hours fiddling with it again today.  Waited on hold for 40 minutes with TurboTax, but never go thru.   I am using Microsoft Edge as my primary browser.   I decided to download FireFox after I ran out of ideas.  The download worked fine with FireFox.   So, it must be some setting in Edge, but I can't figure out which one.     Now I'm working on "rewinding" all the changes I made to my computer to try to get it to work.

In my case the code 1 for HSA funding distribution would be incorrect since that is for early distribution (I am above 59 1/2 so it is not an early distribution).   However, I changed my 1099-R from a code G (direct rollover) to a code 7 (normal distribution) and then updated the taxable amount to the amount of the distribution.  This got me the correct result (removed it as taxable since it is a qualified HSA distribution).    One concern is that the distribution was done as direct transfer rather than a normal distribution so code 7 isn't right.  I hope that differences in the 1099-R box 7 code won't get flagged by the IRS.

Pardon me. Please ignore my question posted a minute ago. I am using the desktop version, and I have had problem with import for 6 days by now because the import workflow does not take me to log in to Fidelity to fetch my tax data. It points me to my PC instead.

Apologies if I misunderstood the key question.  Report the sale of home only, after you follow the steps for each asset (home office and rental). Once you reach this screen for each asset, you must select 'This item was sold, retired, stolen, destroyed, disposed of, converted to personal use....'  Next enter the date you stopped using the asset for rental purposes. And answer 'Yes' you always used this asset 100% of the time for business. (The percentage of use doesn't change until after conversion from rental to personal use.) Select 'Yes' for Special Handling due to 'You converted the asset to 100% personal use'. TurboTax will not try to report a sale here.  Collect the total depreciation used all years for rental (Schedule E) and office (Schedule C). You may have to write down the accumulated amount for all prior years and then the amount for 2025. Add them together for the total amount. @user17710097333

As DoninGA mentions above, the $25 fee in TurboTax for your state tax return  is the standard fee to electronically file (e-file) your state return. It is separate from the cost of the software that prepares the forms.    While TurboTax allows you to prepare your state return for free (if included with your edition), a fee applies to electronically file it.    You do not have to pay this fee if you want to file your state return by mail.  You can get filing instructions for your particular state  by visiting your state's Department of Revenue. How do I contact my state Department of Revenue? If you select to file by mail, TurboTax will generate filing instructions  for you that include the mailing addresses and required forms. You can review your fees in TurboTax Online as follows: Go to the left side on your screen under "Tax Home" Go to "Tax Tools" then "Tools" The "Tools Center" Box will pop up Click on "My Fees" to see a summary of your Turbo Tax Fees. Please return to Community if you have any additional information or questions and we would be happy to help.
Thanks - I have shared my file with an Agent. Token number is 1333408.

Pennsylvania allows a taxpayer to annualize income in calculating an underpayment penalty.   On the screen Let's Review Your Underpayment Penalty, there is a question Do you want to want to see if you qualify for any exceptions to this penalty? Answer Yes.   You will get to a screen that asks Let's See If You Earned Income Unevenly. This is where you can enter the income you earned by quarter.

If the person or entity that issued you Form 1099-NEC was keeping track of your tips, and you weren't, contact them for the information.   See this help article for more information about how to enter tips if your income was reported on a Form 1099. On the screen titled Let’s check if you can deduct any tips, select Yes if you have tips that are included in box 1. Enter the amount of tips included as income on your 1099 and select Continue. You should not enter the entire amount of your 1099 income in the entry field.

Turbo Tax says they want users to be 100% happy?     Then don't tell long time users (20+ years!) to move to the internet only product and end up charging them $240! Don't know when I've been so disappointed in a company. First you get rid of It's Deductible and now you hide costs and fees to the end, when there's no recourse. Badly done Turbo Tax, badly done.

Asked ChatGPT for help: Most Common State-Related 1099-R Error Causes 1️⃣ State distribution (Box 16) is blank but state tax withheld (Box 14) has a value TurboTax expects: If Box 14 (state tax withheld) has a number → then Box 16 (state distribution) must also have a number. Fix: Enter the same amount as Box 1 into Box 16 if your actual 1099-R left it blank. This solves most state error loops     And yes, indeed it solved the error

I have several Schwab accounts.  Upon successfully linking up with Schwab, a pop-up box asked which account I wanted to download tax information from.  I was able to get that to work.  One caveat however - there was a possibility of OVELAYING information from one of the other accounts.  I'm not sure TT differentiated between different investment accounts.  Check all your numbers after the download to be sure they're accurate.
