but if you do want to amend your 2024 return here is the general help. Note guidance to save as a different .tax2024 file or make a copy beforehand. if you follow these instructions I'm not sure why it wouldn't populate 8606 for you tho. But you'll need to paper file 8606 either way. https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-change-correct-return-already-filed/L4VjJ9BA2_US_en_US

And then it will make you sign back in only to give you an error msg: There is only single contact for the given Contact Id. Please add additional contact details and try again. Which isn't even grammatically correct... There isn't even a way to "fix" this as I am trying to DELETE the account.

@CatinaT1 - This is not fixed. I have signed off, used incognito. Deleted and re-entered both 1099G and 1098T and still no where to enter room and board.

I need help on the desktop version here is my example. I am paying back Social Security Disability (this is from 2018) I received the 1099 which shows the total amount as a negative. I want to claim the right for repayment in the forms section. I entered in the total amount of payment (3,001) is this correct? Or am I to enter in the tax paid? If so, how do I calculate the tax from that specific tax year? Do I also enter in the 1099 negative number when i am entering in ths right to repayment section?

Yes, you may claim the interest on it if it was used to buy, build, or improve your home. Here is how to report in TurboTax.
Go to Federal > Deductions & Credits.
Select Mortgage Interest and Refinancing (Form 1098).
Enter your main mortgage first, then click Add another 1098 for your HELOC.
TurboTax will specifically ask: "Did you use this money to buy, build, or improve your home?"
If you say Yes, it will ask for the amount used for improvements to calculate your deduction.

you are saying to reduce column A(monthly premium) of the 1095-A form by the amount i was reimbursed? Will this not cause a flag since my input will not match the form I received?

If you choose to pay your TurboTax fees by having the fees deducted from your federal refund, instead of paying upfront using your credit or debit card, there is an EXTRA "refund processing fee" of $40 ($45 in CA) to allow your refund to go from the IRS to a third party bank. That bank extracts the money you owe to TurboTax and pays TT, and keeps the $40 for itself.
Please make note that if your refund takes too long to arrive (IRS delays, etc.) then you will also be agreeing that the TurboTax fees can be extracted from your bank account even before your refund is issued by the IRS. This comes as an unpleasant shock to many people every year.
If you can possibly pay your fees upfront using a debit or credit card, it will save you that extra fee and even more importantly, the possible aggravation and delays that are often the result of poor handling/poor customer service by that third party bank. We see way too many instances where refunds are delayed for months when users choose refund processing. There have been lots of complaints; there are a number of things that can go wrong when you use refund processing. I suggest avoiding that situation if at all possible.
And....you can never pay state tax due from a federal refund, so do not expect that. The state tax due has to be paid directly to your state.
What is Refund Processing Service?
How can I see my TurboTax fees?

You are not required to use refund processing. You can choose to pay before you e-file by paying with a credit or debit card.

if you didn't file 8606 in 2024 and just need to record the basis you don't need to file an amended return you just need to send in the 8606 so it may be easier just to do it by hand. There will be a question in 2025 you probably found already, for you to input the basis to carry forward from 2024. see "If your conversion contains contributions made in 2025 for 2024" here: https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/retirement-benefits/enter-backdoor-roth-ira-conversion/L7gGPjKVY_US_en_US
