This may be because your tax amount on line 16 of your 1040 is $0 or  a very small amount (less than $500).  The maximum Child Tax Credit (CTC) for your 2 year-old is $2,200, but the refundable amount is $1,700.  So if your tax (on line 16) is $0, the most you will get from the CTC is $1,700.  Additionally, you need to have at least $2,500 of earned income to qualify for the $1,700 refundable portion of the Child Tax Credit (aka Additional Child Tax Credit, or ACTC).  The following links provide more information on the Child Tax Credit and its requirements needed to qualify:   Child Tax Credit Why is my 2025 Child Tax Credit smaller than last year?

I am the trustee of my late  father’s Trust. He died in September 2024. When my father died his Trust lawyer requested  a Federal Tax ID number. Pretending my father’s name was John Doe, the name of the on the request for Tax ID was “THE JOHN DOE TR dated 01-10-2010”. When I filled out the 1041 for the 2024 Tax Year, which was the Initial tax return, I used “The John Doe Trust” as the name without the date. Is this going to cause a problem since I left out “dated 01-01-2010”? Since I realized that the date was left off on the 1041 for Tax Year 1024, on the 1041 form for the Tax Year 2025 should I include “dated 01-10-2010”? Will this cause further confusion for the IRS or does this not matter? Thanks!
I can follow Steps 1 and 2. For Step 3, there is no Other Credits option on my screen.

The enhanced senior deduction and higher standard deductions are automatically applied based on your birthdate entered - you do not need to make any extra entries to have the credits applied.   You will see the deduction on Schedule 1-A, Part V when you print your return.    You will also see it on Line 13b of Form 1040.

It is automatic based on your age. It is not part of your Standard Deduction. The new Senior Deduction is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. The 6,000/12,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b with any other sch 1-A amounts. Turbo Tax automatically includes it if you qualify. If you are married you have to file a Joint return.
For Online version You can preview the 1040 or print the whole return https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/accessing/help/how-do-i-preview-my-turbotax-online-return-before-filing/00/26160 What do you have on 1040 line 13b? See the 1040……. ,

@ netengler wrote: Follow-up: Manually overriding the incorrect 2024 values on a couple of worksheets did the trick and only required an hour of time.  It helped to print out the 2025 .pdf to search for '2024' instances, then find them in TurboTax and update manually.  Also helped to have my correct 2024 all forms .pdf on hand to copy the values from. You used the term "manually overriding".    Are you referring to the actual "override" feature of TurboTax, or do you just mean you edited some data?    If some data on a form was not readily editable, and if you used the actual override feature to change it, be aware that it may not let you efile.
Please explain more.  Where?   What kind of business?  Like a 1065 or 1120 or S corp?   Are you filing it on Schedule C in your personal 1040 return?

To get your refund?   Only the IRS can tell you.   Turbo Tax just gives an estimated date of 21 days.   When did you file?   Was your return Accepted?   When you efile you get back 2 emails.  The first email only confirms the transmission.  The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.  And check your spam folder for them.   When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc.  What does it say?
