"5 days early" did not mean you get your refund in five days--you misunderstood that.   "5 days early" means you are supposed to receive your federal refund from one to five days sooner than the refund date shown on the IRS refund site.   If it does not meet that "at least one day sooner" date, they are supposed to refund the $35 fee.   You have to pay attention to the date on the IRS refund site. You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds

We are aware of this issue and currently looking into it. The IRS has issued a correction to the 2025 Instructions on their end.  We have corrected the calculation for joint occupants of a home who are claiming the energy efficient home improvement credit in Part II of the 2025 Form 5669. Please refer to the instructions below with respect to the joint occupancy section on page 3 of the 2025 Instructions for Form 5695. If you downloaded or printed the 2025 Instructions for Form 5695 prior to Jan. 26, 2026, please note the correction. Although, the IRS is saying March 6, if this is the date that they will have the forms corrected, TurboTax software will take a little bit to then make the changes.  You can attempt to refile on the 6th or wait for several days after that.  In the meantime, we will are looking into it to see if this is related to the IRS correction or if it is something else.  I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:   TurboTax Online:   Sign into your online account. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.” This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.   TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:   Open your return. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent” * This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us. Please provide the Token Number  (including the dash) that was generated in the response.   *(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)

Our help article (How to Enter Overtime Pay into Turbo Tax) lists the different ways to do this.  Follow these steps:  Go to the W-2 screen under under Wages & Income. Add or edit your W-2 for the employer where you worked overtime. Look for the Let's check for other situations screen. Check the box next to Overtime. Continue until you see the Let’s see if your overtime qualifies as tax-free screen. Select Help me calculate my eligible overtime. Look for the What info do you have about your overtime screen. Say Yes to Did you get a statement or letter from your employer with your eligible overtime? TurboTax will ask you questions to help you find and enter the right amount.  This should allow you to enter and edit the information for overtime wages. For more information, see the help article here:  Source, How to Enter Overtime Pay into Turbo Tax

Your account is always going to say "ready to mail"----TurboTax has no way to know that you actually put the printed return in an envelope and took it to a mailbox.   Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities,  There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals.  Some states process returns quickly and some are very slow.   STATE RETURN Make sure your state return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   To track your state refund:       ttps://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0
Sometimes, simply editing the line does not remove whatever is offending the Review.   Consider removing the line with the trashcan delete icon to the right and re-entering by hand.

If you e-filed: Banking information for direct deposit is wrong or closed If you entered incorrect banking information for your refund, you can change it if your return is rejected.  If it is accepted, however, it is too late to change it.  The bank will reject the refund and send it back to the IRS.     https://www.taxpayeradvocate.irs.gov/news/tax-tips/direct-deposit-changes-for-2026-could-affect-how-and-when-you-get-your-refund/2026/01/   You may get this notice— a cp53a notice   https://www.irs.gov/individuals/understanding-your-cp53a-notice   If you take NO action—-the IRS will freeze your refund for at least six weeks and then mail you a check.   If your refund is sent back to the IRS—- make certain that the address you entered on your Form 1040 is correct.  And…open all mail, even if it looks like junk mail.   And……if you choose “refund processing” or the “5 day early” offer, those involve a third party bank; sadly, you will have a lot of additional aggravation in tracking down your refund and getting a check.   Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, LLC  (SBTPG) is the bank that handles the Refund Processing Service when you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund. This option also has an additional charge from the bank that processes the transaction.  You can contact them SBTPG, toll-free, at 1-877-908-7228 or go to their secure website www.sbtpg.com

Thanks John,   So if I am understanding correctly, the copy of my return that I uploaded into TT Online before starting my 2025 taxes was not fully updated to show that the taxes were filed, and I would have to do a fresh upload and start from scratch in order to have TT Online correctly recognize that I did in fact file my taxes last year.  And the only other alternative is to lie on the answer to the question TT Online is asking, because it does not have an option for "I did file my 2025 taxes with TT, you just don't know it because you don't have all the information."   Is that correct?   Thank you, Nathan

You can pay to see your tax return, and not file the return, select the Finish & File option on the left sidebar menu.   Continue through the program, but stop before the final "Transmit my return now" button is selected. Paying the TurboTax fees doesn't automatically file the tax return. However, you can access, print, or save your return as a PDF without submitting it. If you just want to see the Form 1040 and Schedules 1, 2 & 3, you don't have to pay at all.   You can view your 1040 tax return and the supporting three schedules in the online version of TurboTax. On the left menu, scroll down to Tax Tools. If necessary, click the side arrow and select Tools.  A box will appear in the middle of the screen. Select View Tax Summary. A tax summary will appear. On the left side menu bar, select Preview My 1040. This will bring up a copy of your 1040 Tax return. If you continue to scroll down, Schedules 1,2 & 3 are available if they are required. If your business loss is an NOL (Net Operating Loss) carryforward, it may not be supported by the TurboTax software.    If after completing your tax return you have a negative amount on Form 1040, line 15, and you had a loss from a business activity such as those reported on Schedules C, E, F, or resulting from dispositions on Form 4797, or sustained a casualty loss, you may have a Net Operating Loss (NOL). The program does not calculate the amount of NOL to be carried back or forward to another year.    To determine your NOL, if any, refer to Form 172 (not included with this program).    You will likely also benefit by reviewing IRS Publication 536 for details about the NOL calculation.

It refers to the Fair Labor Standards Act Overtime Payroll.  In box 14 of the W-2, select 'Overtime'.   For the qualified overtime deduction:      Maximum annual deduction is $12,500 ($25,000 for joint filers). Deduction phases out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $150,000 ($300,000 for joint filers). The deduction reduces federal income tax liability, it does not exempt overtime pay from Social Security and Medicare taxes.  Employees will still owe these taxes on their overtime earnings. Taxpayers filing as married filing separately are not eligible for the deduction. The deduction is available for both itemizing and non-itemizing taxpayers. See this TurboTax Help. @davoun-brown216
