2 Cheers
It is definitely a turbotax issue and we need a patch. Look at 29 h where it is suppose to get $2k and we don't have it.

Part II Line 4 of this worksheet prompts to enter $80,000 if single. The TT program actually fills in $85,000 instead of $80,000. The 2025 IRS documentation states that the correct value for single is $85,000. So it appears that the TT program is correct but the text in the TT worksheet is incorrect.

In Florida you have to pay a 3% tax in the purchase of a new mobile home or manufactured home. Turbotax says this is not deductible as sales tax on a major item because it is not the same rate as the general sales tax which is 7% in my county. Is there any other category where this might be deductible? I tried putting it under a tax on personal property and that does not work because it is one time and not charged annually like an auto registration.

Hi SusanY1, You misunderstand my question. My question is not how to fill in for 1099 R. It is at deduction part about IRA contribution. In Jan. 2026 I contributed 7,500 for 2026 and convert it to a Roth IRA after 1 week. From your e-mail, if I received a 2025 1099-R in 2026, complete both steps below to report it on your 2025 taxes. It can be also said received a 2026 1099-R in 2027. Means I can make contribution in 2026 and convert it in 2026 (same year) and receive 1099-R in 2027. Your system said that it means that you first contributed money to a traditional IRA, but then later moved your money to a Roth IRA. This is sometimes referred to as a "recharacterization." A recharacterization such as this is different from a Roth conversion because your Roth IRA contribution is for the same year as the original traditional IRA contribution. So, the money would be both contributed to the traditional IRA and subsequently moved to the Roth IRA during the time period of January 1, 2025 until April 15, 2026 unless you file an extension in which case you would have until October 15, 2026. I want you to modify this potion for 2026 version. Pj1089-gmail

Thanks to the democrats in WA, they have made filing taxes more complicated. But TurboTax needs to update their questionnaire to determine IF you need to file WA state taxes. As it reads right now, it implies you have to. To opt out, you still have to check "do it later", which still implies it's required. TurboTax needs to update the working tax credit and capital gains criteria questions BEFORE forcing people to buy a state tax return they don't need to file. Please update the program!

The process explained will allow the numbers to flow to your state return (NJ) the way they should, specifically number one.
1. Edit the original 1099-INT value(s) decreasing by the accrued interest amounts
2. This is not necessary and a negative number may cause an unwanted experience.
You are not required to pay tax on money that has already been taxed. The accrued interest you paid was for the purchase of the bond(s) between maturity dates. Remember to use that amount as part of your cost basis when redeemed.
Keep your 1099-INT in your tax file with notes to explain what you did and why, should you need it later.

Issue with importing Wells Fargo data into TurboTax on-line. Using Wells Fargo Clearing I was able to get the documents to show up in the TurboTax documents tab, but.... they don't show up in 1099 Summary page. Reviewing the imported docs in the documents tab, it appears the TIN is coming across as blank. I'm thinking that's stopping TurboTax from associating the downloaded 1099 with my tax return. But.... there's no way to edit the downloaded 1099 and fix the TIN. Also worth noting that downloading the 1099 .pdf from Wells Fargo produces a doc with a 'masked' TIN with only the last 4 digits viewable. *if* that's the way it's coming across the direct Wells Fargo import that would explain the resulting blank TIN on the imported file. Is there any way to edit the 1099 in the documents tab to fix the missing TIN or any way to force TurboTax to associate the 1099 with the tax return even though the TIN is blank (and then you could edit in the 1099 Summary page)

Based on what you said, I expect you chose to Pay With Your Refund.
Here is the process
The IRS will issue a payment of the refund
It will go to a processing bank
The bank will pay the TurboTax fees, and a processing fee for the bank.
The balance will be electronically transferred to your account.
If for some reason it is not accepted, it will go back to the first bank.
They will send it back to the IRS.
The IRS will send a paper check to the address you have on your tax return.
