Thank you very much! This really explained the part I was missing and now I can make sure 2026 contributions will be correct. I appreciate your answer.

As Mindy mentioned above, if you are aware that your holding obligations are handled via other means, such as withholding through your employer, you can safely ignore the vouchers.  This also applies if you no longer have income subject to Maryland tax.

The "no tax on tips" is a deduction rather than a credit. If you don't want the deduction, don't enter your tips.  If your W-2 has tips listed in Box 7, later in the interview, you'll be asked to review the tips.  You can change the amount to zero, or alternatively answer that your industry is not eligible for the tip deduction.   See No Tax on Tips: How It Works in the One Big Beautiful Bill for more information.

I checked the current open investigations, and I did not find any related to the calculations of Form 1116.  The first step in requesting a correction is to examine a diagnostic tax file experiencing the situation.  You can provide a diagnostic copy of your tax data file so that someone here can take a closer look.  The diagnostic file will not contain personally identifiable information, only numbers related to your tax forms.     If you would like to provide us with the diagnostic file, follow the instructions below and post the token number along with which version of TurboTax you are using and what states you are filing in a follow-up thread.  It would be helpful to have a screenshot of the token number to prevent it from being redacted.   Use these steps if you are using TurboTax Online:   Sign in to your account and be sure you are in your tax return. Select Tax Tools in the menu to the left. Select Tools. Select Share my file with agent. A pop-up message will appear, select OK to send the sanitized diagnostic copy to us. Post the token number here.  Please tag me by typing @ my username   If you are using a CD/downloaded version of TurboTax, use these steps:   Select Online at the top of the screen. Select Send Tax File to Agent. Click OK. Post the token number here. Tag me with @ my username, thank you!

Enter your 1098-T and your 1099-Q, then go to Forms.  Look for the Student Info Wks right under the Dependent Wks.  Scroll down to Room and Board and enter the amount there.  If you are claiming the AOTC or Hope credit, look at line 19 and put in the amount of the tuition you want to apply to the credit (maximum of $4000 - you can enter more, but it won't get you a larger credit and will make your 529 withdrawals taxable - for some reason mine was set to $10,000!).  The tuition, scholarships and the 529 distributions should already be in there from the interview process but check that the numbers are correct.  Save the file while still in Forms, then switch back to Step by Step and make sure that nothing has changed.  I did find that when I opened the file again that Room and Board *or* the amount applied to credit had been changed from when I saved them, so I'm not confident yet that they would be e-filed correctly.  I hope they fix this soon since it's the last part I'm waiting on to file.

This is caused by a conflict with the Visual C++ 2015 - 20xx Redistributions  that is already on your computer.  and can be fixed by doing a repair on the redistribution - you do not have to uninstall of the redistribution.  Unfortunately the last Windows 11 update will unfix it, so I had to do it again after the last update. The process is simple: To repair Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables on Windows 11, open Control Panel > Programs and Features (appwiz.cpl), locate the packages, right-click each one, select Change, and click Repair. It is recommended to repair all versions (starting with the newest) and restart your computer afterward, but you find it is one of the 2015 redistributions. There is a very clear YouTube video on how to do this: "https://youtu.be/DETniAMlLFM"  Which you will need to copy without the quotation marks as Intuit will not let me put a link in this message, and paste into your browser Note that  you will have to reboot your computer afterwards. I don't know who to blame on this: is an install error by Intuit or a Microsoft problem but the whole thing seems unnecessary especially if it keeps repeating.

Why do you want to be timed?   Hurrying through the preparation of your tax return is a recipe for making all kinds of careless mistakes.   Take your time and read every screen top to bottom; be as thorough as possible, and as careful as possible, double checking every amount you enter.   And if you are uncertain about anything--ask questions before you e-file.
