@ flowerchild0610 wrote: Want to access prior years data using the version of Turbo tax desktop that I used for that year and is still installed on my PC. When I try to access it, it only allows me to start a new return. Is all that data gone? Did I miss something that told me about this? Thx Are you using the Windows or Mac version? It could just be that the large shortcut icons are not in your TurboTax main screen. First see if you can find evidence of the data files at all using the steps below. For past year returns prepared in desktop software, search your entire system for any files ending in *.taxYYYY where you put the year for YYYY, such as *.tax2024 or you can search on just *.tax and that might work. See if those searches find them. If not, post back. In Windows, the default folder is the Documents\TurboTax folder. Also check any external backup you have including cloud backup like OneDrive, if applicable.

Hello, I started my tax return today (Do It Yourself Premium Online). My business info was imported from last year. When I click on it and review, there is only the button "Looks good," but no way to add my 1099-NECs and other self-employment income for that business that I didn't receive 1099s for. I was able to search for 1099-NEC, and when I click on Jump to 1099-NEC, I can see those from last year and edit them or add new ones for 2025, but there is still no way to add the self-employment income that I didn't receive 1099s for. Is this a bug that will be fixed or a workaround? I also noticed the counters on top for refund/owed are not there, and also the overview of all the different incomes is missing. Please advise. I have been a client for many years but am losing trust now if it seems not to be working correctly. Thanks!

This is most likely a browser settings issue keeping the Captcha from working properly. NOTE: Are you by any chance using any ad blockers or script blockers? If so, that may be blocking the Captcha. Otherwise, here's how to troubleshoot: First, simply refresh the page in your browser and see if that changes anything. If not, then log out and clear your browser Internet cache. Close the browser and reopen it. Make sure cookies are allowed/enabled in your browser settings so the Captcha will appear. Log in and try again. If still unsuccessful, close browser and reopen using a private window/private browsing (aka "incognito mode"). Log in with the private window (again making sure cookies are allowed) and try the efile again. Or if still a problem after all that, see if trying a different browser (with cookies allowed) will solve it.

Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.
Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.
If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...
After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website

A federal tax refund for a prior tax year is not taxable on nor reported on a federal tax return.
When asked if you received a state or local tax refund, answer No.

@dylanwnash wrote: This was an automated reply from the chat bot. I don't have an error code yet as I have refiled in hopes of not getting rejected again. It has been rejected twice already. Is there some way I can find the previous error code or is there another way to check the current rejection status and/or status of my refund? . You should have received an email after each rejection. If you didn't get the emails, also check your email's spam folder to see if they ended up there. There are many reasons for rejections, so some clue is needed. One of the more common ones is for an incorrect 2024 AGI used to verify one's return, but without the rejection error code or message, everything is just a guess. I provided a FAQ below, you will see a video and a list of 30-35 error codes. Once you know yours, you can click on the specific code link in that FAQ to get help with the problem. Did you already efile again without correcting anything? If you're efiling the same thing, then you're likely to get the same result. You can't do anything until you get the result of your most recent efile. While you're waiting to find out its result, see this video and FAQ (and the list of common error codes.) FAQ: How do I fix a rejected return? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/fix-rejected-return/L7BVsYMWu_US_en_US When you select "Fix my return", it should then display why your return was rejected. The rejection error code should also be displayed but the font may be smaller. The video at the FAQ above shows an example of an error code, but its in small font, and you may have to pause the video to see it. It's right after the video clicks on "Fix My Return."

When I enter my 1099-R details Turbo Tax DOES NOT ASK IF I ROLLED IT OVER--which I am assuming is because of Box 7 - being U. The only thing I can do is actually enter the total amount as an IRA contribution. So now I am getting a tax benefit -- it doesn't seem correct. Please advise on how to accomplish this filing correctly. thank you in advance.
