I had my refund issued via check as their was an issue with my account information for my direct deposit, My state and federal returns were approved a day a part and it has been a week since I got my state refund check and no sign of my federal check. TurboTax support said both checks were mailed the same day (11th) does anyone know why there might be such a delay between the two checks arriving?

I had a couple W2's this year from a regular part time job and a temporary job, the rest of my work came in multiple 1099's as a self employed individual. I used an app to track the milage to and from work for those 1099 jobs. Can I claim those miles as deductible on my taxes?

Have tried your solution a few times to no avail. Seems like there are many other members having the same issue. Please address.

I believe this is a situation related to the $40k SALT limitation and how it applies to Georgia return. I completed and filed both 2025 Fed and State (Georgia) returns via TT earlier this week. Fed accepted just fine. Georgia was rejected with TT guidance stating that an update was required for electronic filing. I completed the update this afternoon...and my Georgia tax liability INCREASED by nearly $700 with no additional data entered. Best I can tell from comparing my pre-update files to current, the change has to do with a GA 500 line 12, $10k limitation that didn't exist on the form before today. I've read through GA IT-511 instruction booklet on this section; it still references fed deduction being "limited to $10k", and that's triggering a commensurate exclusion in my GA deductions. I don't see how this flows. Why does GA IT-511 refer to a $10k (vs $40k) limit? I realize that's not a TT issue, but it provides context. And, more directly, why is TT forcing a $10k exclusion on my state deductions when there were no reductions on my Federal (Sch A SALT total was $24k)? I can see this on my TT Form 500 view, but don't find anyway to adjust it?? Thanks so much!

Yes, you can check the amounts on the Tax Payments Worksheet to make sure there are no 'Estimated Payments' on Lines 1-5 if you didn't make any. Lines 10-24 show tax withheld on W-2's or 1099's, or prior year tax paid in 2025.
There is a separate Worksheet for Line 5 of Schedule A, the State and Local Tax Deduction Worksheet.
You can right-click on most amount fields and check for 'Data Source' and this should point to any entry errors for you.

@Aussie wrote: The punch line is the sale of the vehicle results in a loss based on the cost basis of vehicle x business use percentage. I did not claim any auto expenses or SMR until a year or so after purchasing the car. Because it was originally personal use and later converted to business use, and because that first calculation results in a loss, then you need to do a second calculation. You do it again using the Fair Market Value when it was converted to business use (not original cost), and use the business percentage based on the total miles starting from when it was converted to business use (not the business percentage over lifetime ownership).

If you are filing as Married Filing Separately you are not eligible for the deduction. If you are Single and your AGI is over $150,000 or Married Filing Jointly and your AGI is over $250,000 you are not eligible for the deduction.
If you are age 65 or older and meet the requirement, the additional deduction is automatically added on your federal tax return.
Standard deductions for 2025
Single - $15.750 add $2,000 if age 65 or older Married Filing Separately - $15,750 add $1,600 if age 65 or older Married Filing Jointly - $31,500 add $1,600 for each spouse age 65 or older Head of Household - $23,625 add $2,000 if age 65 or older
New Bonus Standard Deduction (OBBB): An additional $6,000 deduction for taxpayers 65 and older. This is per eligible individual, meaning a married couple both over 65 could get $12,000. Important: This bonus deduction is temporary, lasting from 2025 through 2028. Income limitations: It phases out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.
The amount is calculated on Schedule 1-A, Part V, with that amount flowing to Form 1040 Line 13b

After following the steps you outlined in TurboTax to enter the 1099-INT "Nominee Distribution": Q: What are the steps to issue the other person a new form 1099-INT and file it with the IRS? Do I also have to file form 1096? And is filing the new 1099-INT (and form 1096?) with the IRS done through (snail) mail (versus through Turbo Tax)?

I had to do that to clear any old cache. Restart TurboTax and make connection and Import. May have to do a few times to see if Import worked. Also there should be data in PDF, XML and CVS. If not, in my case I had to contact Schwab support to re-load new files.

Yeah the trashcan doesn't work. I hit the trashcan and it opens a page to update my state return...not delete it. I can't even go through with an option to "file later", it is trying to force me to file...but I can't because I don't qualify for the working tax credit.... This really needs to be fixed. I've been in this loop of attempting to file my federal for over an hour. Turbotax used to be easy.
