I can't get past this on Schedule E passive loss worksheet. Based on answers to others, they have ended up just entering zeros to bypass the problem, which means providing incorrect data. The problem is that the form does not account for having some profit years (in my case 2020, 2021, 2023). Since the form only allows zeros or negative numbers, I put zeros for every profit year. Obviously, that makes it impossible to make the sum equal the total loss number. Here's a screenshot showing the issue and error message.

Hi, I filed my taxes this year as an Independent for the first time. I was rejected and learned that my father’s agent had accidentally put me down as a dependent even though he had requested no dependents. His return was accepted, and then he superseded his return and refilled, which was then accepted on the 14th of February. I have efiled since then, and keep getting rejected. What are my next steps? Thanks!
I don't see that tab in home and buz 2025

53 cents rounds up to $1.  So just enter $1 in both boxes. The IRS wants the amounts rounded on your tax return.  You will notice there is no cents listed on your 1040.   It won't affect your tax.

I don't know how else to express my frustration with my assigned tax preparer (with 8 years experience) except to vent here. I apologize in advance if this is not the correct forum for this.   I had a CPA doing my taxes for the past few years. I have an LLC and some rental properties. Nothing really changed and I saw that TT offered the $150 first time Full Service deal. I took advantage of it. I also wanted to learn how it works and how it's done better, so I followed along on my own to try and get figures that lined up with the prior years (for things like depreciation and amortization) and current year values. I signed up on January 5th. I had everything ready to go by February 5th. A month later on March 4th, the first draft and QRT is finally done. I didn't get any estimates on how much my refund would be during that entire time.  There was the one TT issue with the depreciation for Schedule E not being available until the night of February 19th. The agent used this as an excuse for a delay with the preparation, however a week later they were still asking other non-related questions. Now that I've reviewed the draft return, there were a couple minor discrepancies I provided feedback on. But the real kicker was with the depreciation deductions. A couple of them were only a couple hundred dollars off. One was off by over $1600 (TT said it was less than previous years with no changes to the property). One was over $2700 off (TT said it was less). In fact, with this one, the last year partial depreciation was LESS than the current year deduction according to TT. Not only that, it was also the most expensive property of the bunch, but it had the LOWEST deduction. That should have raised at least someone's eyebrow. But it sailed through QRT. Why does it take me (the customer) to catch things like this? What happens to other customers who don't know any better? Just leave them to TT's audit protection services? This has to be perfect because I'm at a higher risk of audit. I've submitted all the corrections to the agent and am waiting for a revised draft to complete my review. But I'm very frustrated that I've had to spend hours going through this and trying to figure out what happened when I don't even have the 4562 worksheets for the Depreciation and Amortization Reports in my review draft.   UPDATE 3/5: Two of the minor revisions were correct, but the Schedule C for online sales got butchered and is now horribly messed up. And the Schedule E depreciations are EVEN WORSE NOW!   UPDATE 3/8: Three days later, the tax expert finally got back to me to say "let's schedule an appointment ASAP". And then their soonest available appointment is on Friday almost a week away. So now I have to wait until then to have this conversation and then wait even longer for QRT to re-go over my return???

This is frustrating. The import from Fidelity is so simply, have done this for decades, but, now. no luck. The capital gain/loss data works, but not the DIV form. I see if in imported detail but it does not register in my taxes, says it is $0. I have read the other complaints, and I use the latest version of Chrome on Win 111, with the TT Desktop Home and Business edition. Everything is up to date. Tried installing the patch another support forum here said, it installed but I have received errors regarding it. What the heck is going on, Intuit?  Are you fixing this issue? It is March already.

What did you get for your pay?  A W2 or a 1099?  If you are seeing fees for Turbo Tax you are not in the Free Edition.  If you got a W2 you should qualify for the Free Edition.   How to review your fees https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/charges-and-fees/help/how-do-i-review-my-fees-in-turbotax-online/00/26353   A couple reasons it could be saying you need to upgrade…… You might be seeing this because of form 8959, that goes to Schedule 2. The amount of Medicare taxes withheld in W2 box 6 is not exactly 1.45% of the Medicare wages in box 5, due to rounding. I read a post that said to try leaving the cents off of the Medicare tax on your W2 box 6. Box 6 has to be exactly 1.45% of box 5 or less. If it is saying you need Schedule 3 and can't use the Free Edition it might be giving you the Retirement Savings Credit. You can say you are a student to decline the credit. You must answer Yes when asked in the Retirement Savings Contributions Credit section if your were a full-time student. The answer to this same question asked in the personal-information section is not the answer that is used.

My Form 1099-R lists distribution code 2B. When I left my employer, I took a distribution from my Roth 401(k).  I qualified for the age-55 separation exception, so the distribution was not subject to the early withdrawal penalty. Within the 60-day rollover period, I rolled the full distribution amount into a Roth IRA. However, the 1099-R shows distribution code 2B, and your system does not allow me to enter 2B in the distribution code field. How should I proceed so that the distribution and rollover are reported correctly?
All the fields that are wrong are greyed out for Schedule E loss carry over. How do I fix?
No.  Did you already buy the program at Costco?  Some places are selling a License Code for the Online version but I don't think Costco is one of them.
