Thank you for the swift reply.  Oh boy, will all this extra explanation and forms trigger a letter from the IRS to me?  Would love to avoid that...
Why is this so?   Can I still submit my tax return? Will it be correct even though Turbo Tax says K1 not started even though I entered all the information?

I've been rejected about 5 times now. I can't find the missing Spouse Signature Check box on the New York E-File Declaration statement. It's impossible to fix. I don't want to keep resubmitting. They say to print and sign but this seems like such a hassle when I checked all the boxes and we both signed where needed + added pin.

You only need the file ending in .tax2024 to transfer into 2025.   On the old computer, Your tax files end in .tax or .tax2022 or .tax2023 or .tax2024 etc.  They should be in your Documents in a Turbo Tax folder.  You should also have the pdf files of each year.  Or search your computer for all files ending in .tax.  Also if you haven't done it,  I would open each year in the program and save it as a PDF file, go to File-Save to PDF so you don't need the program installed to view or print your return in the future like to get a mortgage or loan, etc.   What I would do is just copy the whole Turbo Tax folder that is under your Documents.  That should be where the .tax files and pdf files are stored.  Copy that folder to a flash drive or best yet is to burn it to a CD or DVD and then you will have a backup of them.   Then on the new computer copy the folder (or files) from the flash drive to your Documents folder.    See this article on how to move your tax return to another computer……. https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-data-file/help/how-do-i-move-my-tax-data-file-to-another-computer/00/26128

Yeah.  I made the mistake of buying the early version of Turbo tax 2025 this year, thinking I would get a head start.  Won't do that again.  Not only was it almost twice as expensive, it didn't update for me to be able to use it until the same time it would have been if I purchased it at Costco.  Then it turns out, the option to use the online version for Quick Employer forms was not available to me until now, after the deadline.  It was not available earlier when I was trying to do them....learn for next year.

This is one of the first things your program identifies as an issue when you get into turbotax and when you click on the link it takes you to the first page of your site. It does not lead to an answer. One would expect a person to get an answer to the question when the link "explain this" is clicked on.    If you have the *.tax2024 data file on your old computer,  you can copy it to a USB flash drive.  Then use that flash drive to copy it to the new Win 11 computer.   Then you can use the 2025 TurboTax program to transfer the 2024 data into a new 2025 return.    The default location for TurboTax data files and PDFs is the Documents\TurboTax folder.   ADDENDUM 2/05/26 at 6:04 PM Pacific Also see the additional information that VolvoGirl has left you in a comment below, such as making/saving your various past year PDFs in case you ever need them to view/print a return.   Once a desktop product is over 3 years old, it can no longer be activated.

I didn't see any form to address my planned IRA to ROTH conversion for 2026 income. I don't need or want some TT program to go through some long process to tell me how much I need to send the IRS (Fed & NYS).  I just wanted TT to set up quarterly vouchers to pay the government and so avoid penalities.  I guess I will just do it on my own.

It may be possible that the distribution codes were entered on the wrong 1099-R.  I would go back to your 1099-R entries, and double-check that the distribution codes are applied to the correct 1099-Rs.  Please see the following link on how to go back to your 1099R entries:   Where do I enter my 1099-R?
Yes, your employer's State ID number is in Box 15.  If you get errors trying to enter this number, you can use the Federal ID number from Box b at the top instead.   @thadoggpound3-p

I am trying to e-file an amendment to last years tax return, but getting the following message: "The Intuit Electronic Filing Center is closed for the 2024 Personal Income Tax filing season. November 15, 2025 was the last day to file returns electronically."   This contradicts with this: https://accountants.intuit.com/support/en-us/help-article/electronic-filing/e-file-start-[product key removed]al-returns/L4WWMC4sS_US_en_US     The largest tax software in the US doesn't allow a simple amendment to be e-filed from previous tax year?

On your W-2, tips should be included in the wages in W-2 box 1, and shown separately in box 7. If your tips are included in box 1, but not shown separately in box 7, the W-2 is not filled out correctly. If the employer refuses to correct the W-2 you will have to include a Form 4852 substitute W-2 in your tax return. When you enter the W-2 in TurboTax, enter the correct information instead of what's on the W-2 from the employer. That means you will subtract the amount of tips from box 3 (not from box 1) and enter the amount of tips in box 7. After you enter the W-2 information, you will get a screen that says "Let's check for uncommon situations." Check the box for "Didn't get a W-2" (even though that's not your situation) and click Continue. The next screen asks if you want to complete a substitute W-2. Select Yes. Proceed through the screens, entering the requested information to complete Form 4852. It will ask you to enter explanations of what you did to try to get a correct W-2 from your employer, and how you calculated the amounts that you entered. The prompts on the TurboTax screens assume that you didn't get a W-2 at all, but that's not what the actual Form 4852 says. The form says to explain your efforts to obtain an original or corrected Form W-2, and how you determined the amounts that you entered. TurboTax will include the Form 4852 substitute W-2 in your tax return. After you complete the substitute W-2 TurboTax will ask you questions to determine if you are eligible for the deduction for tips. You should not enter the tips as unreported tips. If you do that your tax return will include Social Security and Medicare taxes on the unreported tips. But you already paid those taxes. You don't want to pay them again.

I don't believe you answered my question.  My State of Maine Schedule 2, line 2a states to enter the amount from 1040 Schedule A, line 5e which for me is $15,500.  Turbo Tax however auto-populates $10,000 in the Maine Schedule 2 line 2a, not the $15,500 from Schedule A, line 5e.  The $10,000 cannot be changed or overridden, and calculations are not shown in the TT forms. Will my state taxes be rejected for having a different value between the Federal Schedule A line 5e and State of Maine Schedule 2 line 2a? Thank you.

Thank you for providing your token. This issue will be investigated further.     The current workaround is to use TurboTax Desktop. For step-by-step instructions on switching to TurboTax Desktop from TurboTax Online, click here.    Once in TurboTax Desktop, please follow the steps below: Click on Forms on the upper right hand side of your screen (in the blue bar). Click on Open Form on the left hand side. Type in Schedule 1299-I, click enter, and then double click on the schedule I worksheet in the search results. In the list of active credits, click QuickZoom next to Illinois Gives. Enter the tax credit certificate number from DNR and your total contribution. The credit will automatically calculate. Click on Step-by-Step in the blue bar on the upper right hand side of your screen.  Continue your return. @cmurphy1925
That’s exactly what I’m looking for. I’ll be using H&R Block this year. Maybe I’m come back to turbo tax next year, but the removal of ItsDeductible has me wandering this year.
Thank you very much for that.  I am very thankful to have had an expert respond so quickly.   Health & Happiness!

Can you be more specific on the text associated with the lines on these forms? I dont think "minimum tax credit net operating loss deduction" is what I want on 8801 for example
