I tried to import my 1099 from etrade but I get stuck in an endless loop of selecting the brokerage account (Etrade), then signing in, then "Continue" to import, then the login and import process in a web page (which seems to work) then "Success! You can now return to Turbo Tax" and then back to the "Continue" to import.   It never gets to the point in Turbo Tax where it recognizes that a 1099 has been imported.   Any ideas?
You do not enter a 1099NEC by snapping a photo.  You key it in by hand.

How do you know it is not generating the credit?  Does your Schedule C show a profit?   Have you been all the way through the QBI sections?   You will get the QBI questions after you go through the income and expense sections.   Check Form 1040, line 13a, is there any amount there?      Is your business a Specified Services Trade or Business?  The SSTB designation reduces or eliminates the 20% Qualified Business Income (QBI) deduction at higher income levels.    Why is my QBI limited? Thank you but I am not asking for an education or tax advice.  Nor am I asking for a "work around."    I simply want to know when Turbo Tax is going to fix the program so I can plug in amounts for the details I previously outlined.   Is TurboTax going to correctly fix the program or not, if so, how and when?   Thank you!

Submitted two w-2's using the quick employer forms online version on Jan. 27 and they were successfully submitted but have not yet been accepted by SSA. This took only about a day to get an accepted receipt one year ago. Yet this year have received nothing still. I believe others may be having the same issue but would like to know if the processing has really been this slow or is it something else?
I kept having this problem! After 4 calls and no solution or anything I think I'm giving up and heading to HR Block.

Using TurboTax 2025 Premier, trying to import 1099's from Fidelity Investments.  It tells me the data has transferred and I should go back to the TurboTax software.  Nothing is displayed on TurboTax.  I thought the direct data exchange went live on 31 January and I should be able to import?
Follow the steps above. You may need to file a state return. See How to file prior year state returns

I just went through the process of uninstalling/installing TurboTax under the guidance of the TurboTax tech support via the phone with no avail - same screen asking for yet another activation...and tech support just dropped the call. Google search suggests asking TurboTax to reset your activation code before all 5 are used up. Did anybody try this approach?
The what-if worksheet is not deducting the senior discount of $12,000 from line 42 taxable income so has the wrong total taxes..
This is completely incorrect. A trust can issue gifts just like an individual.

In TurboTax, you do not have to indicate this in the Personal Info section- though you most likely saw the option for your spouse.     For you in 2025, you are a Dual-status individual for tax purposes.  This means you report and pay tax all income for the time you are a U.S. resident.  For the time you were a nonresident, you would only need to report income from U.S. sources.  You would need to write "Dual-Status Return" so you would need to print and mail your return.  You must also attach a statement to your return to show the income for the part of the year you are a nonresident (which can be a 1040NR with "Dual-Status Statement" on the return.)   See Taxation of dual-status individuals.

Awesome, thanks @RobertB4444 . And thanks for pointing out the purchase date info as I was debating that. Also, since the shares were rolled from my 401k (and I don't have record of the purchase dates), can I say they were purchased on multiple dates?
