It is automatic based on your age.   It is not part of your Standard Deduction. The new Senior Deduction is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. The 6,000/12,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b with any other Sch 1-A deductions.   Turbo Tax automatically includes it if you qualify.   If you are married you have to file a Joint return. For Online version you can preview the 1040 https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/accessing/help/how-do-i-preview-my-turbotax-online-return-before-f...   For Desktop you can switch to Forms mode to see the 1040 and Schedule 1-A.   See the 1040…….   n   See 1040 Schedule 1-A in Turbo Tax    n

As the title states; I'm trying to e-file my taxes, but it keeps bouncing me back to a "Check This Entry" page for the above form.   Here are the solution I've tried so far: 1. I've gone back and made sure I'm filed as "Single" in the "My Info" section - No effect 2. I've logged out, cleared my recent cache and cookies before logging back in - No effect 3. I tried adding my middle initial to the "My Info" section to try and make it register the Single status - No effect   Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi i recently purchased a home for cash, so no mortgage, on 12/5 in CO.  The tax amount was given back to me at closing for most of the year.  The taxes out here are billed after the tax year.  So I have a tax bill now that I’m paying for 2025 (for the whole year),  can I claim the whole tax amount I am paying to the county on my new property???   thank you
Yes, you will need to report the sale of this property even if it's a loss.
Since the distribution you received is less than 50 cents, it rounds to zero.  You do not need to report this.  You can delete the 1099-R you entered, and just save the document with your tax records.

If you are sure that you have satisfied all RMD requirements by withdrawing from one IRA, then in TurboTax, on the form 1099-R for RMD withdrawals, answer that The entire distribution was an RMD then on the following page, to the question What is the RMD for your account? enter the amount of the distribution from that IRA account.   By doing this, you are telling TurboTax that all RMDs are satisfied and TurboTax will not calculate any penalty. The information you entered in TurboTax is to enable TurboTax to calculate any penalty where applicable, and is not reported to the IRS.
