Sounds like something got stuck. You can try these things:   Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu. Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website. Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms. Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit." Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.   Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.

The additional standard deduction for individuals over 65 ($1,600 per person for Married filing jointly) and the additional senior deduction ($6,000 per person over 65) are correctly calculated by TurboTax.   The additional standard deduction is added to the standard deduction. So for a married couple both over 65, the standard deduction is $31,500 + $1,600 +$1,600 = $34,700. This is reported on line 12e of your form 1040.   The senior deduction ($6,000 per person) is automatically calculated by TurboTax based on the dates of birth you entered for each spouse.   This senior additional deduction appears on line 37 of Schedule 1-A of your form 1040, with that amount flowing to line 13b of your form 1040.   In TurboTax Online, you can only view Schedule 1-A after registering and paying the TurboTax fee.   But you can preview your form 1040 and check line 13b of your form 1040 which includes the senior deduction among other deductions if applicable, such as the tip deduction, the overtime or the car loan interest deduction.   to preview your form 1040 in TurboTax Online, follow these steps:   Open your return In the left-hand column, locate Tax Tools, click on the drop-down arrow then click on Tools On the Tools Center page, click on View Tax Summary In the left-hand column, click on Preview my 1040 Your form 1040 will display Scroll down to line 12e and you'll find the standard deduction ($34,700 if you are both 65 or over) Scroll down to line 13b  and you should see the amount of the senior deduction included in this line.

If your assets, immediately before the cancellation, are greater than your liabilities (debt) then you are NOT insolvent and this would be included in your taxable income.  If you are unsure, you can use the worksheet on page 7 of Publication 4681 Canceled Debts, Foreclosures, Repossessions, and Abandonments (for Individuals) to determine if you are insolvent.    Guide to Debt Cancellation and Your Taxes   If your liabilities or debt is greater than your assets immediately before the cancellation of the debt, then you are considered to be insolvent and the 1099-C may be partially or fully excluded from taxable income..   TurboTax will allow you to report the 1099-C, but it does not handle insolvency.   "1099-C Cancellation of Debt: The IRS has strict guidelines for canceled debt that is not directly related to the purchase of a main home. There are several options specific to each taxpayer's situation that determine how to report this debt. To determine which apply to you, see IRS publications 4681 and 544 at IRS.gov. In some situations, canceled debt can be excluded from taxable income. These situations might include bankruptcy or insolvency. "   If you are insolvent, even though this may not be considered taxable income, it is recommended to see a tax professional to help with filing your taxes.

If your return has been transmitted and rejected by the IRS, you can correct your tax return and re-transmit.   If your return has been transmitted and accepted by the IRS, you will have to amend your Federal 1040 tax return.  However, before amending your tax return, do not enter the return and do not make any changes.   See How do I amend my federal tax return for a prior year?   If you used TurboTax Online, log in to your account and select Amend a return that was filed and accepted.   If you used the CD/download product, sign back into your return and select Amend a filed return.   See also this TurboTax Help.

Form 1099-MISC reports miscellaneous income, which in most cases is related to a self-employed business or job. Were you paid legal fees by the entity who sent you the 1099? If so, do you work in the legal profession? If not, you may be able to report these fees as Other Income.   Open your return and navigate to Wages & Income. Scroll down to Add More Income. Scroll down to Less Common Income. Click Show more. Add/Revisit Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C. Scroll to the bottom of the list and Start Other reportable income. Say Yes to Any Other Taxable Income? Enter a description "Legal Settlement from Form 1099-MISC Box 10" and the amount from Box 10. This entry will report the income on Form 1040 Line 8 instead of creating Schedule C.

***UPDATE***   I just got off the phone with TurboTax. She told me that the error IS on their end, and that as long as our 1040 (or whatever form you filed) states the correct refund amount, then that is what the IRS received.  She said she is going to escalate my concern to IT, and make sure the issue is resolved.    She double checked for me and my taxes ARE accepted, and for the CORRECT amount. TT website is just not working correctly, and they are aware of the issue.

I believe my SALT cap is erroneously being limited to $10,000 rather than $40,000.  I used TT Online on an iPad and then tried to verify it on a PC with Microsoft Edge version 144.0.03719.92.  I could not find a way to get to the forms but I have a screen capture of the summary that shows the cap and I have a token for the file to share with agent.

DavidD66 -    You are off topic with your reply.  No one is questioning or concerned about Room & Board in this thread as it relates to the Education Tax Credit.  The issue / topic we are discussing and trying to get TurboTax to FIX here is the lack of any place to enter your Room & Board (not to mention the box that used to be there in TT for computer related purchases) for purposes of netting down the amount reported per your 1099-Q when it includes funds that were withdrawn from a 529 Plan as qualifying education expenses that are not included on your student's 1098-T.   The functionality has been there for years, now TT is missing it.  Many people here are having this issue.   Thanks    Please stay on topic as not to confuse matters for others.

This solution (proposed by manisman1995, with modifying the form called "People wks (student)" ) works, however, when I save my return, close it and reopen it back, I no longer see books and room and board values - they are empty. Moreover, if I itemize them (click on the cell, and enter the value inside the spreadsheet that opens up), even though it keeps itemized value inside upon saving and reopening, it does show an empty value for books and for room and board on the open form, and increases the overall tax liability. So this solution is not really a workaround, I have to modify form "People wks (student)" each time when I open the return. I hope they fix the issue
My oversight. Passed the option all together. Also due to different interface. Thanks for trying to help me.
