If you've already filed your tax return, you can't pull it back. The IRS will start processing 2025 tax returns on January 26th, 2026.   If your return is rejected, you can go directly back in and make changes.  If it is accepted, follow these steps: On the Tax Home screen,  Scroll down to Your tax returns & documents and  Select the Amend (change) return dropdown,  Then Amend using TurboTax Online. (If you're told to amend your return via TurboTax Desktop, follow the steps for TurboTax Desktop instead.) Continue through the screens, make the changes you need to make, and carefully answer the remaining questions to finish amending your return. I made about $700 profit from my brokerage account trading stocks, options in the whole year.    My broker is showing a net gain of almost $6700 and are saying I might have to short term gain tax on 6700 which is almost 3 times the actual gain of $700.    Is this something that can be amended while doing the actual tax return. It doesn't make sense to be paying so much when the actual cash profit is only $700.  They used FIFO cost basis which is probably why the net gain is so high. Any suggestions?

@Meekearth    Depends...if you have other income...pensions, IRAs, investment income like dividends & interest, or stock/bond/mutual fund sales......then some of your SS may be taxed.  Up to 85% may be included in taxable, at the most.  BUT, if your only income is SS, then you do not have to file unless you have a 1095A for purchased Obamacare med insurance.   Being over/under age 65 is immaterial.   Thus, if you file taxes, you must always enter your SSA-1099 into the tax software...and the software will calculate whether any of it is taxable, and will include whatever is taxable on your form 1040, line 6b
