Make sure you take care of this no later than April 15, or you will forfeit your refund.   If you owe tax due for 2022, it is owed with late filing penalties and interest for which the IRS will bill you; TT will not calculate those.     You cannot change the tax year.   The current online program is for 2025 only.   Only a 2025 return can be prepared online and only a 2025 return can be e-filed.   Online preparation and e-filing for 2022, 2023, and  2024 is permanently closed. Note:  The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It cannot be used on a mobile device.   To file a return for a prior tax year  If you need to prepare a return for 2022, 2023, or 2024  you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s) https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/ You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.   Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0   When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.   Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

TurboTax does not mail or email you a copy of your tax return.   It is up to you to print a copy for yourself.         You have to access your own account and/or  print it for yourself using exactly the same account and user ID that you used when you prepared the return.    https://myturbotax.intuit.com/   Start a 2025 return online and enter some personal information  so that the menu on the left opens up and lets you access your past year returns.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/prior-year-return/help/how-do-i-access-my-prior-year-return/01/27010     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/import-export-data-files/save-2021-turbotax-online-return-pdf/L8dHfRkpT_US_en_US?uid=m5y4ch1y   Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them.  Log out of the account you are in now.     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/account-management/many-intuit-accounts-turbotax/L9aVfKS1Z_US_en_US?uid=ll5g6zcx Account Recovery     Or did you use the desktop version of TurboTax?  If so, the files are on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.     hhttps://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/find-last-year-tax-data-file-tax-file-computer/L0XJvPaJr_US_en_US?uid=m6gufxei     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/data-systems/find-tax-data-file-mac/L4VNGm33S_US_en_US?uid=m6guhab0   You can get a free transcript from the IRS or for a fee of $30, an actual copy of your tax return. https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf       SAVE YOUR TAX RETURNS ! EVERY year before mid-October you should save a copy of your tax return as a pdf and print a copy of it for your records.  That way you will not be searching online frantically when you need it for a lender, FAFSA forms, your next tax return, etc.    https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/import-export-data-files/save-2021-turbotax-online-return-pdf/L8dHfRkpT_US_en_US?uid=m6guj526   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/import-export-data-files/save-2021-turbotax-online-return-pdf/L8dHfRkpT_US_en_US?uid=m78eb8pc In order to transfer a past year return to the new return you need the tax file   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/import-export-data-files/save-turbotax-online-return-tax-data-file/L4xwOG3LF_US_en_US?uid=m6guk3xl   NOTE:  TurboTax and the IRS save returns for seven years.  Returns older than seven years are purged.

@pinskyj wrote: I file a 1041 for a trust.  Does Turbotax Business let me prepare a Maryland state return too? Thank you. TurboTax supports Maryland Fiduciary state tax forms.  Although the forms can only be printed and mailed, they cannot be e-filed. Go to this TurboTax website for TurboTax business forms availability, by state - https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotaxbusiness_states_windows_selector.html
The return only shows the total. I'm looking for a breakdown that would show me how much capital gains tax it paid in 2024

When you have completed your tax return and are in Step 2 of the File section of the TurboTax online program you will land on a screen labeled How would you like to receive your federal and state refunds?   On that screen is a dropdown labeled See other options Click on the down arrow and then select Split my refund between multiple bank accounts You can get your refund deposited into up to 3 bank accounts.
I file a 1041 for a trust.  Does Turbotax Business let me prepare a Maryland state return too? Thank you.
Thank you VERY much all. I'll use this workaround and check the future updates on Fridays

Co-Pilot (whatever that is) says: "As of early 2025, Turbo Tax has not yet made the updated Form 4684 available for filing. Users have reported messages indicating the form will be available after February 20, 2025. Turbo Tax is working on updating the form to reflect new IRS rules, but until then, users may face delays if they need to file using Form 4684."   So I guess I'm stuck, until then.

I simply made a more conscious effort to eliminate things that I didn't truly need. I gave myself grace and maintained balance by allowing myself to buy things that I wanted but through a more conscious buying process. My husband and I saved a lot more and plan to continue these behaviors into 2026!

You can only qualify for a credit up to the amount of your tax liability.  This is not the payment you owe when you file, but your overall tax bill.  For example, if you had $5000 of withholding and would normally get a $1000 refund, your tax liability -- what the IRS keeps -- is $4000.  Likewise, if you had $3000 of withholding and owed an extra payment of $1000, your liability is $4000.  The credit can only be applied to your income tax liability, it does not offset self-employment tax or penalties.     If you have not entered all your income, your tax liability may be too low to receive the full credit.  It will be recalculated when you update your income.  Or, if your income is very low or your other credits very high, you might just not owe enough tax to get the full credit.  The unused portion will carry forward to next year.
I was mistaken btw for Underpayment Penalties it is still pending for "February likely sooner"
