it seems you are saying you did not have an FSA during 2025. If you did, she can't have an HSA for 2025.
what we don't know is if the CPHP is a high-deductible health plan
high deductible HP requirement 2025
family coverage - minimum annual deductible $3,300 - maximum annual deductible and out-of-pocket expenses excluding premiums - $16,600
if it's an HDHP with family coverage, she can contribute to her HSA up to $8,550 + an additional $1,000 if she is 55 or over on 12/31/2025. Contributions can be made up to 4/15/2026. The contribution becomes a tax deduction on schedule 2
as to how to open an HSA, contact a provider and see what they want.

SAVE YOUR TAX RETURNS !
EVERY year before mid-October you should save a copy of your tax return as a pdf and print a copy of it for your records. That way you will not be searching online frantically when you need it for a lender, FAFSA forms, your next tax return, etc.

This is the reply I got from the Office of the President if Intuit. Not very encouraging. They said they recognize our concerns but it looks like they are being dismissive of the harm they are doing to us. Hello Dan, I am reaching out from TurboTax Customer Care on behalf of Intuit’s Office of the President. I am one of the specialized agents assigned to assist you. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today. I am glad we were able to discuss your concerns in detail. As a recap of our conversation, we reviewed the discontinuation of the Its Deductible product and the frustration this has caused, particularly given your need to track multiple charitable contribution transactions and prepare for upcoming tax law changes. I acknowledged your feedback and confirmed that your concerns will be escalated to Intuit leadership for visibility and review. At this time, I advised that there is no alternative deductible tracking solution currently available. You also shared that, due to this change, you are considering using a different tax preparer that continues to offer a similar feature. If you need assistance in the future, please contact TurboTax Customer Support at [phone number removed]. Since your concerns have been addressed and documented, we will proceed with closing your case. Thank you for being a valued TurboTax customer. Respectfully, Shonda J

There are different MAGI for different things. The maximum deduction is $6,000 for each person 65. The phaseout is 6% of the amount by which MAGI exceeds $75,000 for single or $150,000 for married filing jointly (MFJ). The MAGI is normally the same as your AGI but with some Foreign items from Form 2555 added back in. On a joint return the phaseout is calculated separately for each person, so the 6% phases out for each spouse. This deduction is intended to provide tax relief for seniors and is in addition to the existing Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions. Expires December 31, 2028. The 6,000/12,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. Turbo Tax automatically includes it if you qualify. 1040 Schedule 1-A, page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040s1a.pdf I also made a spreadsheet to show the calculations.

Maybe you are waiting for some forms. Click Review to see if you are missing some forms needed in order to e-file.
Many federal and state forms are not yet available. Check here for form availability. The dates are subject to change.
Tax form availability tool
Be patient.
IF you e-file now, your return will go into “pending” until the IRS starts to accept/reject returns in late January. You cannot make any changes while the return is on the server. The IRS will start to accept/reject 2025 e-files on January 26. And….a state return cannot be accepted until after the IRS accepts your federal return.

Re: @Opus 17's reply in topic 'Impact to HSA contributions once spouse enrolls in Medicare Part A' and follow-up to @Opus 17 answer to @dmertz for my question on November 19, 2025 8:36 AM So, here is our updated situation. In summary, I now turned 70, and joined my current employer’s CDHP plan this January, with the family option which includes my wife and daughter. I got onto Medicare Part A a few years back, but have been continuously covered under my employer’s typical FSA health plan, until this year when I switched to a CDHP family plan, so that my wife can have an HSA.. Since my Medicare status does not allow any contributions to an HSA, can my wife open her own HSA to make the family-limit contribution into it ? She would remain not being covered by any other plan while she makes such contribution. For her to be able to open an HSA, would she just show the bank her membership in my CDHP family plan? While I could not get any pretax benefits for an HSA, would she instead qualify for that such benefit at tax filing time? Thank you again for your precious expertise and mastery in this topic ! Best,

Recently, the Sales Tax deduction became available in Windows Premier TurboTax version 025.000.0213.
I click on update and enter in my information accepting the State and local income tax deduction as the option I want to take. It comes back to the deductions page and still says "Available Now" instead of a dollar figure. Is there some reason that I would not see the dollar figure? Is this correct?

@Pearsonfamily If you have no income of your own except for Social Security, you are not eligible for refundable child-related credits like earned income credit or additional child tax credit. If your BF is not the bio-dad of the children and you are not legally married to him, he can get ONLY the non-refundable $500 credit for other dependents if they lived with him all year and he paid for over half their support (in fact he may also claim you as a dependent for the $500 credit). He cannot get child tax credit or earned income credit for them.
Your BF cannot claim your children as qualified dependents for head of household filing status because they are not related to him.
Sorry......those are the rules. If you become legally married, the rules are different.
