Ohio Modified Adjusted Gross Income (or MAGI) is calculated as your Ohio Adjusted Gross Income (Line 3 of your Ohio IT 1040) plus any business income deduction claimed on your Ohio return.   The Ohio MAGI is used to determine if you are eligible for various tax credits. Such as the Ohio Joint Filing Credit, Child Care Credit, and the Ohio Retirement Income credit. It is also used to figure out your exemption amounts on your Ohio tax return.  Click here for Ohio Department of Revenue Tax Forms.

If you received a W-2 form and don't want to apply for an exclusion of foreign income, then you should enter it only where you normally enter a W-2 form. Otherwise you need to work through the Foreign Earned Income and Exclusion section to see if you can exclude all or a portion of the foreign income from taxation after you enter the W-2 in the normal section.   If you did not receive a W-2 form, then you need to enter your foreign income only in the Foreign Earned Income and Exclusion section.

I have read the other posts about this but is still confused on what to enter. Total cost of my car was $33k in 2015. When I started using my car for delivery business in 2023 it was worth $8375. I traded it in for a newer vehicle in 2025, trade in cost was $1300. Do not have any allowable depreciation on previous tax returns so what will my basis for gain/loss be? What will my basis for AMT gain/loss be? I used my vehicle 52.02% for business.
The 1099-R section is ready in TurboTax.  If you're using TurboTax Desktop, 'check for updates' at the Online link at the top.   @tdills
Thanks Roger. I check and the numbers are the same.
@fanfare I don't have two 1099r's, just one with two distributions during 2025 - one in June and a second in December. Both are from the same traditional IRA, so only one 1099r.

No, I didn't because after I clicked the "Confirm payment" button, a spinner appeared for a few seconds and then went away.   No confirmation message displayed and there was no way to go to the next step.   But it did charge my credit card.   I went through this process four times and each of the first three times the charge to my credit card went away after a few hours. The last one has not gone away yet.   Any advice?
Geez, I guess they don't think errors in  returns need to be fixed.  I didn't purchase TT yet this year, Maybe it's time to switch to another program.

My wife and I are filing our taxes married jointly and we have two kids. Her daughter with her ex, and our son. We take turns with her ex on claiming her daughter and this year it is his turn to claim her as a dependent. My wife, daughter, and our son are all on the same Marketplace Insurance Plan so we had to file a 1095-A. Since we aren’t claiming our daughter this year it was saying we were overpaid by over $2,000 from the APTC and that they were taking $1,950 (the maximum) from our refund. With some research we discovered Form 8962 and started filling out the allocation. From my understanding we are supposed to put 0% for ourselves and 100% for him? Doing that fixed our refund and put the $1,950 back in it. However, I’m not sure if we should be working with a different percentage for the allocation because I’m not really sure how the different percentages affect each of us. I am also not sure how this will likely affect his tax refund (I think he makes close to the same income as us, or less). Neither dependent has an income as they are both under 5.

E-file reject code IND-507-01 usually means that someone else has already claimed your dependent on their return. This could be the other parent or even the dependent themselves.    Dependents cannot be claimed on multiple returns, and the IRS rejects any extra attempts to claim the same dependent.   For confidentiality reasons, the IRS cannot disclose who claimed the dependent.   See this TurboTax Help for how to resolve the e-file reject code.
Yes, you can EDIT dependents in the Personal Info/My Info section to add or remove a dependent.   @jenw52182

Although Form 4547 Trump Account Election(s) is available currently in the desktop version of TurboTax, it is not clear at this time when and if it can be e-filed with your return. As far at the Dell grant is concerned, there is no mention of it in the IRS instructions to Form 4547. So, it is unclear how the filing of Form 4547 will impact your eligibility for that grant. Since the program does not commence until July of 2026, I am sure there will be further guidance in procedures to establish your Trump Savings account and apply for the related Dell Grant by the IRS and in TurboTax in the near future.

If your state pending date got changed, that is not unusual. It does not mean anything is wrong. State Departments of Revenue often process returns at different times than the IRS, particularly when it is early in the tax season, or due to high volumes of returns or backlogs.
