I’m using the 2025 TurboTax Mac Desktop version. I prefer TurboTax because it allows me to import data from previous years. As a long-time user, I usually start by importing last year’s data. However, this time, the program didn’t prompt me to do so. I found the import function, but when I tried to import 2024, it was grayed out and wouldn’t be recognized as an importable file. Could you please assist me in troubleshooting this issue? If a solution is not feasible, I will be forced to manually input all the information, resulting in a waste of $60 for the product and considerable time spent on unnecessary data entry.
I have an alleged linked account that says was added 12/12/2025 at 1:06 am. I did not add it. Is just "unlinking it" enough?

If the LLC in the original posters case has been filing 1065, does it mean only 50% of the property would get a step up basis? My husband and I just created an LLC and we have a house deeded to this LLC, wondering if we should file 1065 or schedule E as disregarded entity to receive the full step up basis in case let's say one of us passes and the other one wants to sell the house. We're in Texas.   I chose to be a multi member LLC when signing up for the EIN but haven't filed our first year tax yet. Now I'm thinking disregarded entity is the way to go for estate planning. If so do we need to let the IRS know somehow or just file it as such the first year?    Thank you.
There is no Form 7206 in TurboTax 24, it's new for 2025. I looked for a worksheet in TT24 that might explain the calculation but couldn't find any.
I plan to use the personal computer software

I appreciate your help RJS and insight into this issue. I did receive a notice and the notice states that IF I made an error, then complete an amended return. The letter does not give any specifics/basis for the calculations the IRS made for their determination that I claimed mortgage interest greater than is allowed. I have called the IRS twice and have a call for Jan 5th since they will be able to access my return then. I have never switched to the forms when using the desktop version, but will try if I need to separate the 8a and 8b amounts.   Thanks

You said "they only put one kid down for my child tax credit".   What makes you think you can/should claim more than one.  Claiming children, in some situations can be complicated.  There are special rules in divorce/separation (including never married), unmarried  parents living together and other relatives in the household situations.    If they "messed up",  go back to them and straighten it out before they actually file your return.

The only place you enter the information for the state tax withheld from your paychecks is when you enter your W-2 into the federal software.   The information for state tax is in boxes 15, 16 and 17 of your W-2.   All of that information also flows to your state return.   You do not enter it anywhere else.

I am the Trustee of my late father's Trust. Since he passed away in September 2024 I have been paying for his partner's assisted living from the Trust's corpus. His partner is one of the Beneficiaries of the Trust. This year l am required to take an RMD from her Trust Inherited IRA. As the Trustee if I take the RMD and use it to pay the Assisted Living Facility directly via a check from the Trust on her behalf can I issue her a K-1 under her Social Security Number so that she will pay income taxes on the distribution? Or to issue her a K-1 do l have to send her or her Power of Attorney a Trust check for either of them to use it to pay the Assisted Living? I was hoping that I can pay the Assisted Living Facility from the Trust's checking account directly and issue them a K-1 without having to use her or her Power of Attorney as "middle man" to pay the Assisted Living facility. Thanks!

Or does it automatically pull that info from where I entered it into my W2 and I don't have to do anything?
