I appreciate your help RJS and insight into this issue. I did receive a notice and the notice states that IF I made an error, then complete an amended return. The letter does not give any specifics/basis for the calculations the IRS made for their determination that I claimed mortgage interest greater than is allowed. I have called the IRS twice and have a call for Jan 5th since they will be able to access my return then. I have never switched to the forms when using the desktop version, but will try if I need to separate the 8a and 8b amounts. Thanks

You said "they only put one kid down for my child tax credit".
What makes you think you can/should claim more than one. Claiming children, in some situations can be complicated. There are special rules in divorce/separation (including never married), unmarried parents living together and other relatives in the household situations.
If they "messed up", go back to them and straighten it out before they actually file your return.

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents. Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)
If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created. TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.
Go to this IRS website for free transcripts of a federal tax return - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

I'm not on Advantage but what I could tell it just gives the exact same s/w no more than 2-3 days before it's widely available anyway. Locking in pricing is questionable as to your point there are many discounts below Intuit's pricing whether it's Amazon etc or brokerage offers. But I suppose it does provide other benefits... https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/advantage/?_gl=1*vxv2p7*_gcl_au*NTgwMjMzODAxLjE3NjA0MDk5Nzk.*_ga*OTk5ODU4NzUuMTc2MDU2Nzc4NA..*_ga_J7JHVCT5CT*czE3NjczNTU3MDEkbzkwJGcxJHQxNzY3MzU1NzEzJGo0OCRsMCRoMA..

The only place you enter the information for the state tax withheld from your paychecks is when you enter your W-2 into the federal software. The information for state tax is in boxes 15, 16 and 17 of your W-2. All of that information also flows to your state return. You do not enter it anywhere else.

I am the Trustee of my late father's Trust. Since he passed away in September 2024 I have been paying for his partner's assisted living from the Trust's corpus. His partner is one of the Beneficiaries of the Trust. This year l am required to take an RMD from her Trust Inherited IRA. As the Trustee if I take the RMD and use it to pay the Assisted Living Facility directly via a check from the Trust on her behalf can I issue her a K-1 under her Social Security Number so that she will pay income taxes on the distribution? Or to issue her a K-1 do l have to send her or her Power of Attorney a Trust check for either of them to use it to pay the Assisted Living? I was hoping that I can pay the Assisted Living Facility from the Trust's checking account directly and issue them a K-1 without having to use her or her Power of Attorney as "middle man" to pay the Assisted Living facility. Thanks!

You'll need to describe your situation so that it will be more likely that someone can meaningfully comment. But this is a public Internet forum, so don't post any personal info.

Or does it automatically pull that info from where I entered it into my W2 and I don't have to do anything?

January 1, 2026, still nothing. Charged $70 in Nov. and it is useless. I needed to know how IRA withdrawals would affect my SS taxable. Why can't I plug in numbers to test out different amounts. Not even a test version labeled test only. Nothing. Dead stop. Why should I file a dispute on my credit card for fraud and beg for my money back? Just give me what I paid for. Even a clearly labeled test version. How hard is that? Excel1040.com and FreeTax USA were able to show my SS taxable based on various IRA withdrawals amounts.

From what I can tell, the early subscription and payment gets you nothing but a partial, limited function package. At least if I wait, my brokerage lets me buy tax software at a discount.

@singardia You are posting to a very old thread that has had no activity since 2019. The original poster in this thread was asking about using a vehicle inspection fee as an itemized deduction on Schedule A. That is not your issue. You state that you are a rideshare driver and want to enter a business expense (inspection fee) on a Schedule C.

Why isn't the tax payment worksheet calculating correctly? I paid $4,200 in estimated taxes but the worksheet only lets me input $3,500? This causes a $700 mistake for a refund.
