If you used desktop software downloaded/installed from a CD to your own computer, then the tax files are stored locally on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive. They are not stored online. If you cannot recover them due to a hard drive failure, etc. you can get a free transcript from the IRS or for a fee of $30 an actual copy of your tax return.

I have been using ItsDeductible for at least 15 yrs. They were going to stop the deduction program about a year ago as well but decided to keep it going. I hope that the same can be said for this time as well, and TurboTax will change their mind about discontinuing it. I continued to file via TurboTax for so many years because of this feature. I may consider to use a different way to file my taxes in the future.

I have reinstalled turbox tax 2024 but can't find anything in my account. I have also tried to log in online, which shows I don't have filed my taxes with Turbo Tax yet.

Distributions from a C corp are taxed as follows:
First, as a dividend to the extent of the corporation earnings and profits
Earnings and profits are not the same as retained earnings
Any distributions paid from earnings and profits would be considered a qualified dividend
Distributions paid in excess of earnings and profits would be tax-free to the extent of the shareholder's capital (basis in the C corporation).
Finally, distributions paid in excess of the above two items would be taxed as capital gain
