...........make sure the notification is "Real". Fed and states do not notify you by email, only snail-mail...call the official IRS and/or state Tax people separately to ask if you aren't sure.. ....If you prepared 2019 and PAID for the "Online" software for that year. Then you could log into that account and download the file as a PDF document...print..sign..date, add any documents showing tax withholding and mail it in. (Fed and state(s) forms go to different places). (no e-filing for old tax files) ___________________ IF you prepared it with the "Online" software, but didn't actually pay for the 2019 software at that time, then you'd have to go to the IRS website...find the PDF form downloads for that year, and prepare-mail in manually yourself. States usually have their own web-page with old tax forms and instructions...so same thing. _________________ IF you prepared with the "Desktop" software, and have the PDF files....then you could also print-sign-date-include withholding forms, and mail it in. If not, you're back to getting the forms from the IRS&State(s) websites and preparing manually to mail in. ________________________________

Here is a more detailed explanation: my country is Paraguay (South America) I am a non-U.S. resident alien living outside the United States, and I am seeking professional assistance with filing a U.S. tax refund and obtaining an ITIN. Here is a summary of my situation: I receive sales commissions from a U.S. company as an independent distributor (not an employee). I live and perform all my work outside the United States. The company withholds 30% federal tax from each commission payment. I receive payments via bank transfer and issue invoices for my commissions. I do not currently have an ITIN. I applied several years ago, but the process was never completed. I would like to file Form 1040-NR, request an ITIN (Form W-7), and claim a refund for over-withheld taxes.

@carijobailey8338 I suspect that they won't let you choose that officially, until the actual filing season starts. That won't happen until well into January. Absolutely no one can file now anyhow. ______________________ But you will be far better of just paying with a credit or debit card. Tons of folks lose track of what refund is left (and don't get any $$ remaining) when they choose the refund-payment option....and if the IRS changes your refund...then chaos ensues. DO NOT FILE before the end of January. Even if TTX lets you e-file sooner DON'T DO IT as it just sits on the TTX servers until the IRS actually starts AND you cannot access it again.

I'm not sure where the correction is. Can you clarify on what date and whether you simply retroactively edited the wrong answer into the right answer so that the wrong answer no longer exists. Thanks.

w-2s are available from the Social Security Admin for a fee. 2010-2024 are avaialble and you get complete copies. the IRS only has Federal info (not state if needed) going back to 2018 (7 years). you can request transcripts using IRS form 4506-T (send POA with it)
https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
as for tax info other than w-2s prior to 2018, sorry, in theory, the IRS no longer has copies.
Form 8821 doesn’t authorize your designee to speak on your behalf; to execute a request to allow disclosure of return or return information to another third party; to advocate your position regarding federal tax laws; to execute waivers, consents, closing agreements; or represent you in any other manner before the IRS. Use Form 2848, Power of Attorney and Declaration of Representative, to authorize an individual to represent you before the IRS. The designee may not substitute another party as your authorized designee.
form 2848 see if you are a qualified family member item f in Part II

There is no form for reporting interest paid on a private mortgage. Form 1099-INT is for reporting interest that the person received as income, not interest that they paid. Banks and other commercial lenders use Form 1098 to report mortgage interest paid, but you do not send a Form 1098 unless you are in the business of making mortgage loans.
Your relative does not have to provide proof with their tax return for the mortgage interest deduction. They just report the amount on Schedule A line 8b, which is for home mortgage interest that was not reported on Form 1098. They do not have to provide proof unless the IRS asks for it. You can give them a simple statement of the amount of interest that they paid, in any format that you like, in case they get audited.
Note that the relative cannot deduct the mortgage interest unless the loan is secured by the home and the mortgage agreement is recorded with the appropriate local or state government authority. See "Secured Debt" in IRS Publication 936, Home Mortgage Interest Deduction, for details.
Did you sell the home to your relative, or just lend them the money to buy it? There are some additional requirements for reporting interest on a seller-financed loan.

@jorgeortioneto I am not sure I understand the whole scenario . What I get is
(a) you, an NRA, with a foreign tax home ( which country ?)
(b) you act as a sales rep for a US entity, securing orders of its products, filled by the entity directly ( are the customers US based or in your tax home country? )
(c) You invoice the US entity for the commission and the entity transfers funds to your local bank
(d) You pay 30% tax on your commission ( to the US? ).
Do you also pay to your tax-home country ?
Do you file a US tax return also ?
What I am not clear about is why do you pay US taxes -- you are not a US person ( Citizen/GreenCard ) -- and the work is being performed at a foreign location. Why do you consider this earning as US sourced ?
I will circle back once I hear from you --yes ?

@2golftoday If you have Windows OneDrive, check there. As I recall the default for that is to move them off your computer if not accessed for 30days. (I set mine to always keep a copy on my computer in addition to the OneDrive backup). My installation of desktop 2025 Premier last week didn't touch anything for 2023 or 2024 files already there.....even those files I haven't used in several months

@Arble H Gimbleh ,
Now I understand your predicament --- you need all the transcripts of the returns filed ( as far as you can get ) and nay and all information filings ( W-2, 1099s etc. ), in an effort to bring the filer into compliance.
(a) Since you already have a valid POA and assuming that you have the personal details of the taxpayer ( such as SSN etc. ), you can always go look at her personal account ( or set one up ) and see what is there with the IRS --- see this page --> Transcript types for individuals and ways to order them | Internal Revenue Service
(b) you can also file form 4506-T for all the tax years that you need or you can visit the local IRS office with the POA in hand and seek guidance.
I am saying the above because the taxpayer is alive, just not able to do the needful herself but you can set up her personal; account ( if she has not done so herself) based on the valid POA.
Once you have the details, I would suggest starting with the latest years and work backwards ( since you have the TurboTax software for the needed years. Alsop note that while IRS ( and many states ) will allow refunds only for three years prior, the tax liability for all the earlier years ( with interest and penalty ) can go as far back as possible ( at least six years for sure).
Also if she has not received any notices from the IRS ( that you are aware of ), then she either never filed or the informational filings were too small for the IRS to chase/ send notice to non-filing. It is a difficult situation .
Good Luck
