You were confused and somehow expected that your state refund would pay your federal tax due.   That does not happen.    And....if you did not pay the federal tax due to the IRS by the April 15 deadline, that is why the IRS is charging interest on the amount you owe them.      The federal and state treasuries are completely separate from each other.     Your state tax due cannot be paid from a federal refund.   And….your federal tax due cannot be paid from a state refund.     Neither refund can be used to pay the amount due to the other one.   If you owe tax due, you have to pay it yourself by the filing deadline on April 15, 2025.      If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, (which has the address printed on it, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.    https://www.irs.gov/payments     https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-payments/help/how-can-i-pay-my-federal-taxes/00/26212     https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-payments/help/how-do-i-pay-my-irs-tax-due-with-a-check-or-money-order/00/26403      To apply for a payment plan with the IRS   Apply Online for a Payment Plan     You must pay your state tax due using the state’s preferred method of receiving payment.  For most states that will be by making a payment to the state’s own tax website, or by mailing a check or money order.     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0   WHAT IF I CANNOT PAY MY TAX DUE? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-payments/pay-taxes/L8aQBCpPO_US_en_US?uid=m9iryksw

No one can call you from the user forum.   TurboTax gets no information from the IRS or your state after you file your tax return, so no one at TT knows anything else about your refund or why you have not received the amount you expected.  TurboTax cannot find out.   MY REFUND WAS LESS THAN I EXPECTED   https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/refunds/help/why-is-my-direct-deposited-refund-or-check-lower-than-the-amount-in-turbotax/00/25594   There can be a number of reasons why your refund was less than the amount you expected. First of all, look carefully at your actual tax returns. Next——check the IRS refund site https://www.irs.gov/refunds to see what the IRS says they issued for your refund.  Sometimes the IRS reduces your refund. If the IRS reduced your refund they will send you a letter in several weeks.     There is sometimes confusion about the amount of refund to expect when users misinterpret the “summary” they saw in TurboTax. The amount of your refund is on your tax return.  Federal refund is on line 35a on Form 1040  State tax forms are all different so we cannot tell you what line to look at on your state form.  BUT it is important to actually LOOK at your tax return forms yourself and see the amounts of your tax refunds and/or tax due.  A lot of confusion would be avoided by doing that.   Be aware also that your Federal refund and state refund do NOT come together.  Federal and state tax returns are processed by two completely separate entities.  There is no rule as to which one will come first,   It is also possible that your state reduced your refund for debts owed in your state—if the state reduced your state refund you will receive a letter from the state.   Did you choose to have TT fees deducted from your Federal refund?  (Remember that if you did that, you also agreed to an extra refund processing fee of $40 or $45  in CA)   How can I see my TurboTax  fees?   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/intuit-account-billing/review-fees-turbotax-online/L1XnIzgzg_US_en_US?uid=m682vq7k      refund offset.       https://www.irs.gov/uac/tax-refund-offsets-pay-unpaid-debts  IRS Treasury Offset Program Call Center at 1-800-304-3107  https://www.irs.gov/uac/tax-refund-offsets-pay-unpaid-debts   https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/refunds/help/what-is-a-refund-offset/00/26301   Reduced Refund      https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc203      NOTE: You can contact the IRS Treasury Offset Program Call Center at 1-800-304-3107 to ask if they have an offset for you on file. TurboTax would not have that information.   https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/tax-payments/who-can-garnish-an-income-tax-refund/L7cPPzDyc     TurboTax does not receive feedback from the IRS regarding money that was offset from your refund.  If you owed back taxes or child support, you will receive a letter of explanation from the IRS in several weeks.  The WMR site will contain a message regarding your offset.  It is also possible that the IRS caught a mistake you made and reduced your refund.

Also I'm wondering if you just upgraded your Deluxe to the Home & Business program?  How did you buy the Business?  Did you upgrade inside the Deluxe program?    For how much?  If you upgraded Deluxe to H&B you don't need to download anything.  It should automatically open the extra features to your program and say Home & Business at the top.  But the H&B program won't do Estates and Trusts.

To discontinue offering TT 2025 desktop for Windows 10 machines is a great disservice to all loyal TT customers. Outrageous. Win 10 will continue to be supported by MS for at least one more year for a nominal fee. My PC cannot handle Win 11. I do not wish to accept the various comparative shortcomings of your online version. You are attempting to "force" customers to whose machines cannot run Win 11 to buy a new machine. Fine. You pay for it, you install it, you transfer all my files, you ensure all set-ups of all applications are exactly how they were previously - to my satisfaction.   I urge Intuit to rescind this poorly conceived decision.

Microsoft will continue to support Windows 10 in exchange for a payment of a one-time fee until October 14, 2026. My computer is not compatible with Windows 11. I urge Intuit to reverse this draconian decision which is customer abusive. I much prefer the desktop version compared to the online version (less functionality, less visibility, less privacy and control).    Should Intuit fail to change course, I am hopeful that someone (or group) that has the resources seeks and gains injunctive relief. The planned discontinuation of desktop Turbo Tax for Windows 10 computers represents a horrific disservice to your loyal customers.   Once again, I urge you to reverse course for at least on more year, if not indefinitely.

Months ago I filed my returns and ended up owing $686 in Federal taxes, while receiving a return of $1596 from the state of Wisconsin. Of course the TurboTax page shows it as a net return of $910. No big deal, I’d get the $1500 return and just pay the $686 right away. I finally get my state return a few months ago and it’s the $910. I was very confused and thought maybe they paid the federal, but didn’t think that was possible. Today I get a letter from the IRS stating I owe $686 + a 5 month late fee. I’ve been using TurboTax for years and never had any problems. I’m honestly just confused. I thought maybe I made a mistake on my taxes, but I didn’t receive anything in the mail regarding amendments and it’s such a leap for the missing number to be exactly the same if there were any offsets (which there shouldn’t have been).

I'll go ahead and mention this in case you already have your IP PIN for this year:   Here are 3 ways to get to the right place to enter the IP PIN in Online TurboTax.  You only need to use one method.   You can choose which method works for you the best.   Once you've ppened the interview back up, click in the top right on SEARCH icon (magnifying glass). Enter the term IP PIN without quotes.  When entering, ignore the dropdown menu, and instead click the small magnifying glass on that same line. Then click on Jump to IP PIN. Or here's a second way: With your return open, click in the left menu column on TAX TOOLS, then choose TOOLS. In the Tools window choose TOPIC SEARCH. Enter the term IP PIN without quotes. In the selection list highlight IP PIN and click GO. Or here's a third navigation method: With your return open, in the left menu column, click Federal. Then choose subtab  Other Tax Situations. If this is your first time in that section, answer the preliminary questions, and it may ask you if you have an IP PIN.  If so, indicate "yes", and keep following the screens as it guides you to enter it. If it doesn't, such as if you've previously been in that section, click on "See all uncommon tax situations" to see all the topics in that section. In the "Uncommon tax situations" list, scroll down to Other Return Info, and expand to see the subtopics, one of which is Identity Protection PIN.

@ debrairwin1921  asked:  "Where to find IP PIN?"   What do you mean by "find IP PIN."  Do you need to know where to enter the 6-digit IP PIN in Online TurboTax, or do you need to know how to retrieve this year's current IP PIN from the IRS website?   Do you have the new IP PIN required to be used in 2025 calendar year filings?  Last year's will not work this year.   See my next comment below on how to navigate to enter the IP PIN.

What is the exact wording at the Tax Home--accepted, rejected, printed, started, ready to mail, or what?   If the Tax Home in Online TurboTax says it was accepted, what is showing at the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool?  Does it show up there?  Is there any message? https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund   Here are some tips when using that tool:   Be sure you enter the correct tax year, SSN, and filing status. Be sure you are using only the Federal refund amount.   Do not include any state refund or any total refund or net refund (Fed and State) that TurboTax may have provided on a summary screen.   Look at your actual Federal return to get the Federal refund amount to use in the tool, i.e., your Form 1040, Line 35a.
Would TT please warn customers first?? Now I have to get a refund for the TT upgrade
When I log in to turbo tax it says that I filed & was accepted so I am thrown off by that email and I’m lost and I just need my tax return

Sorry no.   The Business program is only for Windows computers.
Form 1041. It appears TT Business won't do this form on a Mac. Is there another TT/Mac product that will?
Thanks...this is very helpful
