I had to pay estimated taxes due in April with the state when I got an extension. I owe $4 more than I paid, but TurboTax won't let me pay the amount owed and will only let me pay the full amount.
During filing for dependant box where it says put in social, in case we put in ITIN will the return go forward?

We know nothing about your computer other than it has only 2GB of memory. some have memory slots that allow upgrade others do not.  Consider this. For 2025 tax returns that are done on desktop Turbotax it seems (at this point in time) your operating system will have to be windows 11. Are you using W10 or 11? if 10 some computers cannot be upgraded to W11.  I don't think Turbotax support can really help with these issues.  if you click on settings in the start menu and then update & security in the next screen you should see info about whether your computer has or is W11 compliant and also the current OS. if you have W11 that leaves the memory issue which only a computer tech could answer by looking inside the computer. if W10 but its W11 compliant and you upgrade you may again face memory issues.   If W10 but not upgradeable to W11, it makes no sense to upgrade memory if that's possible because in 2025 you'll either need a new computer or go back to online.    Turbotax desktop 2024, when a return is opened along with the update services, can take about 1/2 GB (on my computer). there are other processes that also must run when using Turbotax desktop in addition to other operating system processes which must run. if you stop some of them your computer will crash.    Unless you have a tech friend, the cost of having a pro look at your computer and upgrading. if possible, might be more than a new computer
I have been taking flat rate vehicle expense on the same car for 10 years. Ttax wants depreciation method, etc. Use 0 value to avoid future issues?
The question asks if you itemize the state you may be better to check the box. The software KNOWS i did so why does it not answer this automatically!?

Just to clarify- you said all income from Amazon should be expensed. And they should either be expensed as supplies or expensed as cost of goods. So an item..such as say a Car Play system where the audio didn't work so it's unusable and unsellable (it's basically trash) would be categorized as "supplies" for expensing? Or an Airtracker that quits working a week after you receive the item would be expensed as cost of goods since it worked long enough to do the review? What about things that if you could have returned and gotten a refund/exchange if you had actually bought the item- like a pair of shoes that didn't fit- so you don't actually get any value out of and just have to store for 6 months until you can trash them/donate them?

Hi, I exported 1099-B from the broker E*Trade to Turbo Tax in my computer. I found errors  in the exported 1099-B worksheet ,  Form 8949 and Schedule D. The Turbo Tax misclasified a few transactions that belong to Box B into Box A. I don't know why this happened.  The misclassified Box B transactions are noncovered securities and I need to add cost basis separately to calculate correct losses. I have to take out the transactions from Box A to Box B in these forms.  I opened the 1099-B worksheet, Form 8949 and Schedule D in Turbo Tax in my computer and tried to fix the numbers manually by myself, but it is not allowed me to change any numbers. Do you know how to fix this problem? Please advise. Thank you so much!

I too just found this out only because I was trying to google how to buy their audit defense if I didn't efile!  I too have been scammed the last couple years as there was no notice of the ridiculously short audit defense period that's worthless.  Like everyone else, I just clicked the link like I do every year.  This should be a class action lawsuit or something because it's blatantly illegal to advertise the same service and change the rules without notice.  I've seriously lost trust in TurboTax over this sleazy business tactic.
Can I e-file my TT tax return and mail Form 8990 that TT does not support, but I found on the form's website?

Depends how you set up your business.   Will you be self employed, sole proprietor, independent contractor OR setting up as a LLC or partnership, etc?   If you don’t set up an official business entity you will file as self employment on Schedule C in your personal tax return and pay self employment tax in addition to regular income tax on it.  The SE tax is to pay Social Security and Medicare tax that wasn't taken out like on a W2.   Some general info on self employment on Schedule C....... You will need to keep good records.  You may get a 1099NEC at the end of the year if someone pays you more than $600 but you need to report all your income no matter how small.  You might want to use Quicken or QuickBooks to keep track of your income and expenses.   When you are self employed you are in business for yourself and the person or company that pays you is your customer or client.   Turbo Tax Self Employed Tax Hub https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/self-employment-taxes   Here is some IRS reading material……   IRS information on Self Employment http://www.irs.gov/Businesses/Small-Businesses-&-Self-Employed/Self-Employed-Individuals-Tax-Center   Pulication 334, Tax Guide for Small Business http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p334.pdf

@VolvoGirl  @Mike9241  I called in to ask the TurboTax CS team for help in the afternoon. I was told to call back again and there might be “no info/issues” on my case.   Do we have some other options? Now do I have to buy a new computer for my tax filing 2024-2025? Thanks a lot.
I would suggest consulting with a tax professional before starting a business. miss something important can result in substantial financial troubles.
