You'll need to use previous years' products that must be installed and run on a computer if you want to use TurboTax.   See https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/

So, Intuit is able to adapt TT 2025 for WIN 10. That must mean that either the WIN 10 computers in use for Intuits Desktop DIY program users have some magical power to thwart the alledged security concerns Intuit is touting as their reason for not supporting us common folks, or the security concern narrative is a BS smoke screen for their real reason for refusing to make it available. I am sure I know, anyone believe they have a backroom deal with Microsoft to help promote WIN 11?

Hello Opus17 and Dmertz,   Here are further clarifications, as well as missing pieces of information which may help me consolidating my understanding and preparing for my upcoming decisions:    Opus 17   ‎March 17, 2025 11:17 AM Receiving SSA benefits does not make you ineligible to contribute, it's Medicare enrollment that does it. If you had HSA-eligible insurance for 2026, you could contribute to an HSA as well, because you would have 3 months eligibility. --  I believe I am not yet actively enrolled into Medicare (not paying any premium) as I have been on my employer' group health plan for over 10 years. Now becoming 70 y/o, I will receive SSA benefits in 2026, and am thinking of getting a family plan HDHP and HSA in Jan 2026. Even should I not be longer allowed my own HSA, I plan to continue working, to be able to stay off Medicare, on HDHP.  My wish is to fund my wife's an HSA for at least a few  as her workplace does not offer any HDHP plan.    2. Opus 17  November 19, 2025 8:36 AM: It would be best, in most cases, for her to contribute to her HSA from your work income (if you can afford it) -- We each have separate existing Salary Deferred plans.  My upcoming SSA deposit needs a tax-savings strategy, so I could fund her HSA (with fungible money) and now hoping that my work payroll allows such funding to my wife's HSA  a pre-tax allocation instead.   3. @dmertz   Nov 19, 2025, 9:33 AM If the employer puts money in the spouse's HSA, it does not count as pre-tax contributions for the employee.  It would be fully taxable to the employee, and the spouse would have to take the deduction on form 8889 just as if they had taken money from the spouse's paycheck after it was deposited in their bank account.  I could be wrong, but I can't see a legal way for the employee's deferred salary to be deposited to a spouse unless it was taxable income to the spouse. ---If I actually can have my own HSA, perhaps I can just fund half of it, and find ways to fund my wife's half outside of my work payroll, may be from her work's payroll for the possible pre-tax advantages ?   I would like to thank both you, as well BillM223,  BSch4477, so much, for giving me all this late learning, but valuable advices!! -W16va

@EKOT  @NCperson    Oh...I see!!   The Manual Update page shows a 2025 Manual update...BUT...actually downloads a 2024 Update superpatch.   (at least right now at 7:40AM Eastern)   Manually Update TurboTax for Windows Software   The software folks updating that page are screwing up.   You should open your 2025 desktop software, and only update it thru the top bar menu....don't use the Manual Update for the time being.  Generally, the Manual Update is only used as a last resort, when the in-program update isn't working. ______________________ @xmasbaby0    Maybe you could poke the Moderators to let the software folks that they need to correct the Manual update page to indicate the correct year vs patch that they are providing there?

Desktop tax prep is a legacy business for Intuit, it's now less than 1% of their total $20bn revenue in decline 5% annually.  That's $200mil revenue for 4mil users, which is not nothing, but their Online/Live business has revenue $4bn for 35mil returns growing 8-10% annually, which is where they are clearly focused.  For 2025 tax year they are cutting Win 10 even with ESU, ItsDeductible (100k users), Basic Desktop edition.  Also offering desktop users to try Online Premier for no extra cost.  Based on their earnings statement this year, Intuit is clearly comfortable yielding share for what they call "low average revenue per return" users (i.e. desktop plus some online usage), as long as the higher revenue stuff is growing.  The rest of us cling to desktop year by year as long as far as it goes.  I can't speak for Intuit's product roadmap, but the direction is clear and there's probably zero chance at this point that Intuit would consider expanding desktop into a linux version.

I'm 21, not a student as a graduate at the very beginning of this year. I recently started working a full-time job and will make more than $5,050 by the end of the year. However I live with my parents and they provide way more than half of my support. Will they still be able to claim me as one of their dependents?

Any Turbo Tax updates to their software tends to occur over Wednesday night into Thursday morning. As this is Thursday morning, there was an update last night.     A 2025 patch would not update the 2024 software.  it doesn't work that way.     There was no update patch to 2024 last evening.
