Did you have a shared policy and indicate this in the software? If not everyone on your policy is also listed on your tax return, you need to allocate the marketplace insurance. You can allocate it at any percentage you choose from 0% to 100% as long as the total allocated to all policyholders/taxpayers is not greater than 100%. For example, all amounts can be allocated as 100% on a parent's tax return, while a dependent can allocate 0% on their return. If not all policyholders are on the tax return, this can result in matching errors with the IRS.   @nicdev @cmgmrt

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities,  There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals.  Some states process returns quickly and some are very slow.   STATE RETURN Make sure your state return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   To track your state refund:       ttps://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0

In total, $405.42 was paid for all of the TurboTax services, which includes the $40 processing fee for using our federal return to pay for everything. My problem is that every time I click to view my order, it only shows $365.42. It will not show the $40 processing fee. The $405.42 was deducted from our federal return over 2 weeks ago. Turbo Tax also shows the $405.42 on one of the screens, but will not show it in the receipt with that as the total.   I have spoken to 3 different Turbo Tax professionals on the phone and 1 in chat. They could also see the $405.42 on their end, but when they sent me a receipt, it was still only the $365.42 amount. One of the agents I spoke with said that the $40 fee is from Santa Barbara, which is why TurboTax will not show it. But TurboTax has the $405.42 amount listed under payments. When I click the 3 dots next to it and "view order" the $365.42 is there, and the $40 processing fee is left off. This should not be this difficult. The $405.42 I paid When I click "view order", the $40 fee is left off and the total is changed   Does anyone know how I can get a receipt that shows everything adding up to the $405.42? I need it to be reimbursed. Thanks!

If you have a small business (including a farm), you have the option of using your social security number or getting a federal employer identification number (EIN).  If you pay W-2 employees, it is mandatory that you get an EIN.  But even if you have no employees or only subcontractors, you have the option of requesting an EIN from the IRS. This allows you to use your EIN on certain tax paperwork instead of your personal social security number (such as a W-9 if someone needs to issue a 1099 for payments; or if you want to set up a separate bank account for the business.)   If you don't have an EIN but you are asked for your business tax number, use your social security number.

Did you file a W-4 with your employer?  You normally should have indicated you were single and had no other special adjustments.  You should not have checked the box for "exempt" from taxes (this is rarely used and applies to people who are legally exempt, such as certain foreign workers.)   The first $15,000 of your income is not taxed, due to the standard exemption.  The system for income tax looks as your wages as if you were paid the same thing for a whole year, and estimates the tax.  For example, suppose you are paid weekly and your gross pay this week is $200.  That's $10,400 over a year, which is less than $15,000, so no tax is withheld.  Suppose next week you are paid $400.  That's $20,800 over a year.  After accounting for the $15,000 standard deduction, the taxable pay is $5800, the tax is 10% or $580, which divided by 52 = $11.15, and that would be your withholding.   Essentially, the system is self-adjusting.  If you make less than the taxable threshold, you won't have withholding because you wouldn't owe tax at the end of the year.  If you work more in some weeks, you may have tax withheld on those weeks.  Then at the end of the year, all your income is added up, the tax determined (if any), and compared with your withholding.  You would get a refund if your withholding is more than what you owe.     The only reason you might owe tax is if you had two jobs at the same time, because each W-4 will give you credit for the standard deduction but you only get that once.  If you have two jobs at the same time, you need to file out the extra worksheets that are part of the W-4.  But if you only have one job, and you did not check "exempt" on the W-4, then it should work out fine.

The first thing you need to do is to make sure you've filled out the About me or Personal Info section correctly. Using TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to the Personal profile screen, scroll down to Other State Income, and select Edit. On the Did you make money in any other states? question, answer Yes and make sure your nonresident state(s) are selected from the drop-down. Select Continue to return to the Personal profile screen. After you finish your federal return, you'll automatically move to the State taxes section, where you'll see your nonresident state(s) listed in addition to your resident state. Always begin with the nonresident return first.    How do I file a nonresident state return?
Be sure the information on your 1095-A was reported correctly.
Thanks. That's what I drew from the comments. There's nothing so complicated in my filing that the IRS Summary won't do, which I learned about from one of the comments.

If I'm understanding correctly, you used TurboTax Desktop to file, then later switched hard drives. In this case if the .tax2024 file and prior year .tax files were removed from your hard drive, then there isn't anything that we can do to retrieve those files for you. Intuit does not store a copy of your .tax file.  If you wanted to recreate the file, you could do so by reentering your tax forms and preparing a new return to be identical to the copy you received from the IRS.    How do I find my tax data file (.tax file) on my Windows computer?
Please see how do I find my license code for TurboTax Desktop for guidance.  If that does not assist, you can also use this link to contact us. @apophasisx

I filed before April 15th and no balance on the IRS site yet. I have already settled up the payment for 2023 and wish to add a new payment option so I can pay my taxes over the time. I am not able to do it as I don’t see my balance for 2024. Today is May 6th and I kept checking the site but I can see the word info and once I click on it, I got a message - Your Information Is Not Available at This Time. What should I do to be able to set up a new payment option or I just have to wait?

Situation - I contributed $7,500 after tax to my IRA on 28-Dec-2023, but did not mention that in my 2023 tax return (i.e. did not include form 8606 for 2023). - That amount grew to $7,925 by Feb and I converted that to Roth IRA on12-Feb-2024. - I received 1099-R in 2024 from my brokerage company. Now I need to file 8606 for 2023. - I know that the 2024 tax deadline has passed and I have filed extension for other reasons. I am trying to file 2024 taxes now.   Questions: 1. Can I just mail form 8606 to IRS, or I need to amend whole return (i.e. file 1040X)? 2. Will the delta amount $425 (=7925-7500) be taxable for year 2024?

I haven’t received any of my tax refunds the last 3 or 4 yrs       Have you been filing tax returns for the past several years?   Were those tax returns accepted and processed fully?  Did the tax forms show that you were supposed to receive a refund?      Do you owe back taxes or child support that has caused your refunds to be seized?        As for being charged this time---is it this?   TURBOTAX TOOK MONEY OUT OF MY  ACCOUNT   Did you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund?  Is your refund taking an unusually long time to arrive?  Or was your refund seized to pay a debt you owed? if so, you signed an agreement that says TT can withdraw its fees from your account.  TurboTax would have sent several emails to you before they took the money out of your account.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/intuit-account-billing/bank-account-auto-debited-turbotax-fees/L3rDdVynu_US_en_US?uid=m6bdgedq   TURBOTAX SAYS: How do you justify debiting my account? The provision is spelled out in the Pay With My Refund Agreement, which you agreed to when you opted to pay with your refund. In addition, by clicking the "I Agree" button below, you electronically sign and authorize Intuit (through its third party processor) to debit the TurboTax Fees, Additional Products and Services Purchased and any applicable sales tax from your bank account number identified in the Agreement below, in the event that you do not receive a tax refund that is sufficient to pay for them.       WHY DOES THE IRS SAY THERE IS NO RECORD OF MY RETURN? https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/    Sometimes people get confused by the “summary” given by TurboTax and use the wrong amount for the federal refund.  Make sure you are only using the federal refund amount, and not an amount that combined your federal and state refunds.     Your federal refund amount is on line 35a of your Form 1040

I tried to re-install, but get a message that it is already installed.  Non of the information I researched on my computer indicates that there is already another installed.   The problem started yesterday when I renamed the file that had the name misspelled, and then deleted the old file.  I found the "prn.ini" file, but don't know what to do with it, or maybe that's why TT thinks I have the program already installed??  Please advise.  Thank you.
