Thank you for your response. I appreciate it! Yes, I already tried Google and ChatGPT before I posted to the community. I tried the suggestions to no avail. The only thing that got my attention was that some people commented about having USB devices plugged in. One of the internal drives in my PC started dying a couple of weeks ago. This is just an additional storage drive and not the drive where TurboTax is installed. I replaced the bad drive about a week ago. Could this change have effected the activation somehow? The new drive was assigned the same drive letter as the bad drive that it replaced. Anyway, TurboTax continues to ask for activation every time it is opened. This 2024 edition as well as the 2023 edition. I only have 2 tries left so I am afraid to use them up before I can get my taxes done.

Does the Partnership still exist? If it no longer exists, the 1065 will be due 2.5 months after the month the Partnership ended, in which case you likely will want to file an extension.

First thing that I see is interaction on my account that is not me at all. My wife who filed single befoii mm so m wife miss uses my personal information and poses as me online. I just for the first time seen text to u about my return and that’s not me it’s my wife. No hack just simple greed. This is why I never received my return. This is a crime I’m sure to interrupt my irs business with turbo tax. Personal information safe I do fill that is correct in my situation. Any way I can report this fraudulent activity done by my wife who left me and has robbed me blind. Help please. I have proof

Yes, if you are receiving rent it is taxable. It sounds like you are receiving less than Fair Market Value (and/or a not-for-profit rental), so you won't be able to claim any rental deductions. It sounds like part of the SSI is based on the amount of rent they pay, so in order for them to receive that, your child needs to pay rent (and therefore it will be taxable to you).

I amended my 2024 return to correct error in Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). Original return resulted in my refund being reduced by $1418 due to not meeting RMD for one of my IRA's. But I met my total RMD for all of my IRA's. Error was due to glitch in TurboTax software. Amended return showed that I was due a refund of the $1418. But I received a letter from the IRS saying my account was adjusted but that the adjustment did not change my tax or credits. I have not been able to get an explanation from the IRS as to why I did not receive a refund. Any suggestions?

desktop versions create a backup. it's a hidden file in the Turbotax folder (under users/documents in a windows computer) that starts with a "~". even when you delete the actual tax file the backup should still be there unless you deleted that also. just remove the tilde and the double click on it to open. you can then save it. then the 2021 file should be there when you start 2022. if you deleted both then the only place either file might be the trash folder.

@osbuntax611 ,
Agreeing with the excellent replies ( and the referred articles) from my colleagues @KarenL4 and @FranklinF , would just like to add the following:
(a) As a US person and even with a foreign tax home you are still subject to FBAR requirements -- form 114 at www.FinCen.gov and only on-line. There is no threshold change based on tax-home
(b) As a US person you are still subject to FATCA regs. -- form 8938 ( along with your tax return ).
See this --- Comparison of Form 8938 and FBAR requirements | Internal Revenue Service
Which country are you moving to ? I ask because of US/that country tax treaty considerations inclu. taxation of your US social Security by that country.
Is there more I can do for you ?

Google search (Turbotax keeps asking me to activate every time I open it) This was what I put in the search. There seems to be many for this problem. Hope it helps. Here are a few links to some of the answers that came up. If none help you then try the google search above for more links. I hope the links here work since Turbo is claiming invalid and removed. If they do not work just do the google search above. 1 How can I fix TurboTax requesting license activation on every launch? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/install-products/turbotax-2019-turbotax-2020-requests-license-every/L77v5robh_US_en_US#:~:text=Disabling%20software%20that%20can%20block,to%20connect%20to%20the%20internet 2 TurboTax 2023 keeps asking for Activation Code https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/turbotax-[product key removed]g-for-activation-code/00/3121925 3 Error code 603: All the available activation for that code has been used This error means the product has reached its activation limit, so you'll have to buy a new product. If the person who claimed you as a dependent had to pay someone else to care for you while they were at work, they could possibly get the child and dependent care credit for paying someone---but that is not a refundable credit. It reduces the tax they owe. And....again, sorry...it is not a credit available to you.

If you used desktop download software to prepare the 2021 return, it was only stored on your own hard drive or any back up device you used. It is not stored on in an online account. Check your hard drive to see if you really deleted it--it might still be there. Check your trash can--you might still be able to rescue it if you did not empty the trash.

No ---there is no tax credit for claiming yourself and saying that you are disabled. And as for someone else getting a credit for claiming you...if you are over the age of 16, the only credit they get for claiming you as a dependent is a $500 credit for other dependents. There is no special federal tax credit for claiming a disabled dependent.
