I'm having the same problem. Would like for TT to correct the software to work properly. With the QCD amount shown as a distribution with code Y on the 1099R, that should be enough information for TT to handle properly. But I also checked the box indicating I made charitable contributions from my IRA and entered the total amount of QCDs as requested and that should be more than enough information!

I read your advice too late. I realized the day after e-filing and the IRS accepting my return that income was missing I have already gone in and added the 1099SM to the original fille. I then compounded things I think by then choosing to amend that return. To me the income numbers no look off. I am in the 80% of SS income taxable but the income number is higher. Seems I made a mess of this. Not sure if I can use Turbo Tax to amend now once The IRS completes the return and deposits the refund.

Then, take a look at the requirements for claiming a dependent care credit to see if there is something else that may be disqualifying you from claiming the credit:

Lesson learned, no more TT next year. Such a bad experience, No fault of ours. Hi @vamsee83, I'm following this post also. I got a complete different response today from a rep that just posted in my post here and quoted below: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-credits-deductions/discussion/re-fed-and-state-filing-rejected-due-to-form-5695/01/3821956/highlight/true#M364591. I've not verified yet but interesting you got a completely different response for online people like me. It's been brought to my attention you should be able to file your Form 5695 at this time. Please update here if you have the same experience today. @DianeW777

Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted? Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.
You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.
Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund. Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.
To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product. If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...
After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.

Understood. After I create the new account how do I start a new return? There seems to be no way to utilize the desktop software i purchased which allows for 5 returns. Because I don't have windows 11, it sent me to the online version which only allowed me to do 1 return. There's something I'm missing here.

You can also look at your return and potential information about your return using the IRS Online Account for Individuals.
If your tax return has been accepted you might also be able to access your transcript from the IRS.

In case you need instruction here is the information about amending your tax return with us.
The amended Form 1040-X is not yet available and will likely be later this month. The IRS is not willing to accept an amendment for the current tax year early in the tax season. Use the link below to check to see when it will be available. Do not change your tax return until you read all the instructions. TurboTax needs to know the original numbers and the corrected numbers to provide the correct end results before you prepare it.
If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.
You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed.
You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.
Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.
The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due
Only make changes to the areas of your return that need to be corrected.
You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
https://www.irs.gov/refunds
To track your state refund:
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr
If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing

If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act. Do not expect your refund before early March

Note: “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”. TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing. Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing. If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.
FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE:

How it works
Where's My Refund shows your refund status:
Return Received – We received your return and are processing it.
Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown.
Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.
